Emu has a solid base

Post by Kerbox » Tue Oct 16, 2007 4:34 pm

I finally got to externally log into one of the servers that has been set up, it was quite a thrill to be able to do that. I just wanted to say that this project has a really good base and the release of this open alpha just proves it even more. All the basics in game work really well. I know there are a lot of people out there who don't even know about this emulator yet and it already has a decent amount of people who have signed up at the forums and watching this project actively. I'm very glad I got to be apart of this since day one and look forward to seeing this community and project grow.

Were glad to have your support from Day 1, the more people that get actively involved in EQ2Emu the faster it will progress and the greater the overall result will be!

Exciting times are ahead of us, I can tell. Looking at the progress on the emu itself, its amazing what the devs have been able to work up in such short time. The key now is getting more people that can dev into the mix to further the progress. Its hard to make this sucessful with only 2 dev's working full time on it.
But yea, we are definately on a roll, and we are starting to get a good user base coming in so we may just be heading in the right direction.

There are items currently in the database, but you must /summon them on your own, and you need to refer to the database to find out the names. Use HeidiSQL or Navicat to browse the items table to see whats there.
As far as wether or not they will function full, thats remains to be seen. There are tons of features that are still not present so you may be able to get items, but not use them, or thier stats.
Mobs can be made sorta, but its something else that hasnt the code to make it work right.

DB work will begin as soon as LE releases new parser. First job will be to populate the world but take in mind that aggro, combat system and other things don't work, so you only will see more things, like spawns, items, etc...
