LAN Server Creation

Post by drunkengod » Sun Feb 08, 2009 7:07 pm

Could someone please clarify something for me. Is it possible currently to run a local version of an EQ2 server on a LAN? I see info on Win32 and Linux servers, but they all seem to rely on an outside source for the login server... could someone please correct me if I am wrong, and guide me to some information that could answer my questions? Thanks

Awsome, thanks..., now does that mean I configure the following part of setup on my server with the minlogin info instead of this, and thus I would not need to even be on the internet?:

Overview: This tutorial will walk you through setting up an EQ2Emulator server.
Last Updated: 13 Oct 2007
1. Open http://www.eq2emulator.net/index.php?page=14 in another window.
2. Complete the Login Account Registration and verify that your account was created successfully.
3. Complete the Server Account Registration at http://www.eq2emulator.net/index.php?page=15 (You will need to provide the Login Account information from step 2 as well).

Code: Select all
3.1 World Server Name - Name used to identify your server.
3.2 World Account Name - Account name that will be used by the server to login.
3.3 World Account Password - Password that will be used by the server to login.
3.4 Admin Account Name - This is your Login Account Name that you created in step 2.
3.5 Admin Account Password - This is your Login Account Password that you created in step 2.
3.6 World Description - Brief description describing your world.

If you are using "Minilogin" you do not need to register for any accounts on this website for playing online. Minilogin means you run everything behind your firewall and no one but you can access your world.

Minilogin is not restricted to local LAN access just a heads up, just the first 5 accounts. Not sure if I ever clarified that.

Okay so as long as I limit myself to 5 accounts then I'm good... Works for me, Thanks for all the help, I am going to attempt to start building one. So far I haven't found anything that explains the minilogin configuration in setting up a server. Also do I have to "compile a server" in the wiki before I follow the Server Setup guide? God I need an idiots guide for this :?
