new to emulator and lost!

Ok, a little about me and what brins me here. some rl freinds introduced me to EQ2, it's my first mmo, and the only one that really hooks me. I have played off and on since launch and often find myself thinking back about the good old days before dof when the levle cap was 50. I just happened to be on and everyone was talking about all the old stuf they liked and how much better the game was in t5/6 I had heard of private servers before and mentioned it and someone sent me a tell with this sight. I dont know much about computers and find myself lost in all the technical jargen and such. is there a running server that I could play on, maybe like a classic EQ2 server or something simular. and if so how would I go about doing this?

There is an "official server" named TessEQ2 that the content/database team are working on. The goal of the server is to replicate Sony's servers and that sounds like what you're looking for.

so there isnt currntly a server running with combat and stuf? and the live server is going to be like a current soe server or like a soe server was at launch?

TessEQ2 has some combat and a few spells/arts, items, quests and more it is being worked on there is a thread around here that ppl use to tell everyone about their server. there is more info there.

afaik that server will be as live like currently as it can be. The main reason I think for that is because there is not much in the way of info for all the old quests and spawn points etc etc for mobs. nothing we can really compare to.

Tess is a great demo server since it utilizes as much functionality as the server has at present. content is being worked on in progression for the most part.

I am sure there will be people who will create a eq2 launch like server. It would be pretty cool.
