The app works fine.
Riven, can you write the zones you want first?
Also, the size of the logs you want.
10 MB? 50 MB? 200 MB?
And also we need know how can send you the logs.
Maybe each one of us can collect different zones to do more efficient work.
All my characters are from freeport, I can collect this zones, and I have a small guild, I can't access easy to Raid zones.
Maybe people in raiding guilds can collect this zones and no others that we can do the non raiding people, to do the packing collect more faster.
More instructions about all this things will be good.

Well, I think chunks of 25 Mb will be ideal. I haven't decided yet where to put the collection files, so keep it atm, I have to discuss with Lethal if we can use a ftp or something like that.
Updated the instructions to let you know must be sure your user and password are not inside the file, so edit it prior to send it when a site for that is ready.

If I wasn't so into playing Vanguard, I wouldn't be so paranoid right now - but what are the risks with collecting data on my Windows XP PC with EQ2 running on the same box? Can SOE detect me, and thus ban me from existence for stealing their data?
I always used SEQ or tcpdump on a hubbed linux box before, and stayed clear of the MySEQ type things that risk my only source of entertainment.
What's the risk in collecting? If you say minimal to no risk, I'll start tonight.

One more thing, I didn't see an article anywhere describing what the collector should be doing to get the most data.
It is simply running to all points in the zone, talking to NPCs, getting in fights, casting spells/skills? If it's nice and simple, anyone can do it, and we might get more data faster.
Please detail out the expected tasks.

Packet Collector just listen your network connection and save EQ2 network data stream in a file. As I know the programm not alter the data so no risk to be detected.
I think the only possibility for SOE to check if you run PC or not is to check your process
It is just my think for more infos tell LE ^^

I think you're right Alfa, and Lethal told me the other day Packet Collector is Sony safe. It hears the packets coming from your network card, not from Sony servers.
And I don't think Sony would make EQ2 client check your processes, I hope

Look at the DB collecting sticky and you can post what are you collecting, so people can do other tasks as well.John Adams wrote:One more thing, I didn't see an article anywhere describing what the collector should be doing to get the most data.

I sure will, but I need to know how to collect first, so I know I am doing it right. Pretty sure it's simple, but I just want to make sure. I'll wait for a steps 1..2..3 to come out.Riven wrote:Look at the DB collecting sticky and you can post what are you collecting, so people can do other tasks as well.
But once I know, I can collect all the racial communities and the main cities. Just gotta know if how I am doing it is correct. I read through the collect I took, and it definitely has tons o' info in it.
