Lol, that is weird. Are you running off the TSO box as well?

Nope, I don't have TSO  I am using client 5499L though... so it should work unless whoever runs that server hasn't updated their op_codes and strucs... Come to think of it I never see anyone on that server, weird.

Ok, Joey. I got some time right now. I'll hop online and log sessions til you get a chance to try it out.

If LE is working on his server today (and it is unlocked), try making a char on his too (LethalEncounter server).

There's no LethalEncounter server up right now unfortunately, but that's ok. Well I started another toon (Ogre Berserker) in neriak on TessEQ2, and the same problem, I freeze every few minutes or so. I tested it like 5 or 6 times (and clearing cache before every log-in) to make sure it was consistent, and it was. Hopefully I can catch Lethal Encounter's server when it's up next. Man I hate being a night worker, lol. Like I said before there is no rush, whenever you can get around to it. I really appreciate you guys' patience, you seem really dedicated to this labor of love, and I salute you guys for it.

edit: sorry man i left this page up, so you probably thought I was on when I was working :(

Hmm, the fact you can get logged in at all, especially for an hour or so, tells me it is not your client or the server(s)... perhaps your connection? What kind do you have? Is it reliable, or suffer outages?

Client-side "lockups" may need to be defined more clearly too. Do you mean, it freezes and you cannot press any buttons, move, or look around, NPCs stop walking, like a frozen freeze... or that combat stops working, talking stops, no chat, but you can still move around and click on things (though no reaction occurs)?

If your UI freezes up so bad you have to kill the client, then that is likely your OS or client freaking out. You should check your crash logs (any txt file in your eq2 client directory that has a recent update to it), or your Windows system logs/application logs, to see if an EXE is blowing up.

If it is merely the world that stops responding, but your client keeps moving around freely, that is usually you being disconnected from teh world - or the world crashing. What is likely happening is you are experiencing a "desynch", where your client and the world you are connected to lose the ability to communicate. And you eventually get booted.

Sorry if I was too vague John. Maybe it's me after all. When I say freeze, I mean the entire game freezes like a still picture, and I have to ctrl-alt-del to end program. No running around, no talking, no movement whatsoever, just a frozen screen. I am using Vista x64, has anyone else had problems trying to play on this OS? My cable connection is solid, never had a problem with it, I play other online games all the time without this problem. I am wired as well, not wireless. Maybe reinstalling will fix my problem. I hope. I will try that tonight when I get off work.

Try updating your vid card drivers. EQ2 has issues on vista with nvidia driver sin particular that causes similar crashes.

I am using vista x64 with nvidia 750a onboard card runs with no problems but i do not run in sli and all drivers are up-to-date. eq2 also has issues with older amd multi core cpu's but with the AMD Dual-Core Optimizer it takes care of that issue or at least it did on my older machine that ran xp. that may not be needed on vista though. try disabling multi-core support also in the client if you already have everything up-to-date and see if the issue persists. by default i think eq2 auto enables multi-core support if it detects more then one cpu.

edit striked out suggesting AMD Dual-Core Optimizer due to vista does not need it.

Yeah I have an AMD dualcore and an Ati Radeon card. I have the DualCore optimizer already, as I needed it to play eqemu, which I have been playing for over a year now. I have my vid drivers up to date, I updated them the other day to current (9.4 catalyst drivers for ATi Radeon HD 3850). The only thing I have not tried yet is disabling multicore support, though I question that, as I played "Live" a while back (2 years ago or so) just fine and had a dualcore back then as well, albeit an older version. Still haven't done a reinstall yet, but I want to do it as a last resort, as it is quite a lengthy install. Any more ideas would be great. I appreciate everyone's help and am starting to feel at home here. :D
