Startup Entrys
Good Morning!!
After setting up my Server (Arkyn Ro) and trying to add some test spawns, I recognized that the database I got from the Update Server (updates.eq2emulator.net: 9103) is completely empty!
How can I add spawns if there are no NPCs ect??
Is there a so called startup database to geht some ideas how the data is handelt?

Re: Startup Entrys
Not at this time...you have to supply your own information for any NPC's you want to spawn.

Re: Startup Entrys
ok ...
I thought these informations where in the database some time ago.
So, to clearify your answer, I have to get/capture the npc data by myself?
So an installation of the Server and downloading of the database doesnt give me a position where I can start populating s world?
I have to reget every data, that is already captured by the database team in order to spawn any NPC?
I think I have to get the items also by myself?

Re: Startup Entrys
An Official Database for EQ2Emulator has not been released. It will be released at some point when the server functionality and content are to a point where the game is PLAYABLE. Right now, it is not. It is in ALPHA. If you, as a private administrator of your own world, want spawns NOW, thenyes you make them yourself. If you are too impatient to wait for the server code to progress and the content to be added by people who are working on this project daily, then yes. You have to get the data yourself and do the work yourself.
There are about 1,000 posts on these forums talking about the database, the content, and why the current DB has no spawns. Maybe you should read a little more.
I hope that answers your question clearly enough.

Yes, if you don't want to manually enter data, or you want the npc's to be exactly like live game data.Arkaiden wrote:ok ...

It give you the database structure to allow you to start entering information to a new unpopulated world. So an installation of the Server and downloading of the database doesnt give me a position where I can start populating s world?
Kinda the same question as above. Yes you will be 're-getting' information, but it would be for your use 'NOW' instead of having to wait for a release.I have to reget every data, that is already captured by the database team in order to spawn any NPC?
Yes, but as said before, only so you can play around 'NOW"I think I have to get the items also by myself?
JA can probably explains this stuff better than me, hehe.

Sorry Zc, I jumped the gun! Maybe 2 more posts about why the database is not release-ready will make it all too clear.

Re: Startup Entrys
Well,
I never talked about a release database, and I never talked about a spawned world.
I asked for the NPCs or Items to make my OWN spawns, as far as I know u can only populate a world with having the List of NPCs.
I can't see a problem to relase some NPCs and some Items to toss around with.
You would give future Server Administrators more things to learn, perhaps even get some feedback about it.
And by the way, beeing an embedded software architect I know what alpha etc means.
And it doesn't mean that you can' throw some database samples to the world.
I'm not offending you in any way, but I thought this project is about everyone giving a piece to form the whole emulator.
But as starting up Admin, you really really feel left alone.
Every second person you tell, that he/she has to capture the information by his/her own, which by the way are already stored in an sql database, will quit.
I can definately understand, that you get bored of answering the same question over and over again, but ask yourself why this question is asked so frequently.
As I sad, I'm not talking that you should release the whole database, but a fair startup. People messing around with some NPCs and some items possibly look deeper into the source and find a solution to a problem.
Help them not offend them.

I don't care. Quit. For every one of you that can't read and figure it out, there will be 10 more with the patience and intelligence to make it work.Every second person you tell, that he/she has to capture the information by his/her own, which by the way are already stored in an sql database, will quit.
Offended isn't the word. Tired of having the same conversation with lazy people who refuse to read, maybe. Had you looked in the Releases forum, you would notice a Server-Pack that has been available for months for people just like you, who want to see sample spawn, item, script data.
You come here assuming we are not doing good enough because we do not give you personal tips on creating spawns - when the forums and Wiki are filled with information on how to make your own NPCs, how to write scripts, how to create your own Items.
Everything you need to do everything you want with the software we are developing (for free) is here in forum, in Wiki, and in REPACK. Exactly what more do we need to do for you?

Re: Startup Entrys
Exactly what I wanted to say, would it have been so difficult, to say that there exists a release pack which includes what i was asking for.
You could have said that, or better sth like that with another tone, in you first post.
Thats exactly the point, i don't say that I made everything right, but you could have easily pointed me to the release pack, and we would have been done.
To come back to business. As the EQ2World.exe in this pack has the build number 228 and it was released sometime ago, is the database still combatible with the current SVN? Or does the UpdateServer alter my tables accordingly?
Btw:´When I browse the forum ther is no Release Section, but ur link does work, kinda strange.

Let me get this straight. Rather than you taking your valuable time to look in the forum titled "Releases", you believe it should be the Project Members responsiblity to point you to the forum?Arkaiden wrote:Exactly what I wanted to say, would it have been so difficult, to say that there exists a release pack which includes what i was asking for.

No!
I read through the forums many times, but never recognized a Release forum!
Rechecked this 2 times now, and I can't see anything called Release.
Like I said ur link works, but no other way, guess I should bookmark your link =)

Really?Arkaiden wrote:Btw:´When I browse the forum ther is no Release Section, but ur link does work, kinda strange.
I'm sure you'll argue with me for hours about the Releases not being where I show it on the forums list. Btw, you do have to be logged in to see it. It is for registered members only.

Ok, will fitt
Normaly I'm browsing the forums not logged in.
Just haven't looked when I was logged in, to be honest, I normally surf from my business workstation, and of course it doesn' t save any information, everytime you boot up, u have exactly the same system like last day.
Ok, so thx for helping me, I will take a deeper look into the released database, when I get the time.

Ok,
took this screen after loging in ...
I guess theres a problem with my cookies.
I'm logged in but hitting F5 4-5 times seems to log me out ...
and the server behaves like I've never logged in.
