Bion, if you got time, can you take a look at this one particular item for player: Rage on Tess. He is submitting /bugs in-game as well for this and other items.


Item ID: 22100
Name: Flattened Combatant's Earring

When you try to equip it, World just says "Unable to equip item."

I have looked at the items data, looks ok, item_classes are there for it as well (I think it's an all/all). One thing I noticed, it only has one "Ear" slot selected - and I think we talked about that before. Items with 2 slots, might still be an issue.

Please let us know what you find, if anything.

These also "Unable to equip"

Tried dragging/placing on character in middle or onto actual items slot..also right click equip , no joy either way

Ok I figured this out, I think. Apparently, the items have "Magic Affinity" as a required skill, and if the player doesn't have this skill, welp, they cannot wear the item.

Does anyone know if Magic Affinity is a passive skill that everyone has from the day of their birth? If so, we might be needing to extend our starting_skills table a bit.

I am making these adjustments to the TessEQ2 DB now.

Yo Bion, if you even see my posts anymore ;) here's a question...

Remember us talking about "negative stats"? Well here's a good example -

Did we ever discover how we're going to fix this in Emu? I thought we already had, but apparently not. Or, maybe the parser is what's wrong. I will adjust this item in Tess DB and see the results.

Weird, no matter how I search, I cannot seem to get "Blackened Band of Devastation" to show up in my /itemsearch dialog. Hmm.

Anyway, re-linked what the player did to me, and now with the stats adjusted in Emu, they look normal. So I guess this is a Parser thing, and you likely already fixed it - I just have not re-parsed Items in months.

Btw, see "Long Road to Ruin"? I don't think that is supposed to show as a Stat... just as an effect. We'll work on that eventually. At least it's identified.

all the neg stats will show up right after they are reparsed there was a bug in the parser a while back with them.
thats exactly how that item looks on live. with "Long Road to Ruin" shown in that color right there. there should be quite a few that looks like that.

everyone from birth has "Magic Affinity" as a skill thats why alot of special items like the axe from frostfell,candycane weapons are set to that so anyone can use it.

i'll look into why the parser does not add in the 2nd slot with items that go into more then one. as a stop gap though you can use this to touch up the items already in the database

Cool, thanks B. I'll get those updates to the 2 DBs now. I also added Magic Affinity to starting_skills, plus gave it to all current chars... so Jewelry should equip now.

Oh yeah, we also still have that weird problem if "Ear, Ear" instead of "Left Ear, Right Ear", and for other items that can be on more than one slot of a similar name (finger, wrists?). I think as long as the slots are ok, it'll equip.

But my question is, are there ever any items that will only go on one or the other ear, finger? Like a ring that ONLY works on the Left Finger? I didn't think so.

I did look into that awhile back and i never could find any item that could go into one of those 2 ring or ear slot but not the other. I think it would be a headache for them so they just applied lore to those things that they did not want you equipping 2 of. there was alot of talk about that long ago when they introduced the extra ear slot. before that time no ear slot item was lore

Re-tried equipping Ears..rings..wrist..waist and all seem to be equipping now :D
Slot must be empty to equip, cant drag or right click and equip over the top (swap an item)

Haven't played live in awhile so cannot remember if you can right click/drag and swap an item

about these equipping errors, i have already done a /bug about this, but.
all cloaks and shields are unable to equip
and shields have no defense
Me: *yawn* need something to keep me busy..
