Account/Server Maintenance

Post by ilythor » Sat May 30, 2009 12:59 am

Self maintenance for Server's and your accounts and currently in Beta, so please go out there, give them a good old thrashing and give us some feedback! Let us know if they work, or if they go all "Alt+Ctrl+Del" on you.

Thanks Ily!

To give you a little info on these modules...

Account Management:
  • When you want to just play on an EQ2Emulator server listed on the Public Login Server, you have to register for a Login Account. That is done via the Portal -> For Players -> Player Registration page. In some instances, players may wish to change their passwords, see a list of characters tied to their account (and what server they belong to), or delete an account to start all over. This is what Account Management is for.

To use it, simply click the Portal -> For Players -> Account Management link, log in with your existing Login Account name and password, and manage your Player Account!

Server Management:
  • Those who wish to run an EQ2Emulator server of their own, and connect it through our Public Login Server list for others to join and play, need to register for a Server Account. This world account name and password is what you then put in your LoginServer.ini to connect your world to the Login Server.

Sometimes Server Admins need to change the details of their previously registered servers - and before, you were required to delete your existing world account and make a new one. Now, with Server Management, you can login using your Player Login Account info, then change various configurations of your server.

To use it, simply click the Portal -> For Admins -> Server Management link, log in with your existing Login Account name and password, and manage your Server Accounts that are associated with your Login!

Note: These settings do not effect your local configs, only how your Server appears on this site.

    An example of Server Management:
    server-management.jpg
In this example, you can see the various entries you can alter using Server Management. Your World Name (as it appears in our Login Server and Server Status pages), your world account password, world description, and set the ability to NOT display your World on the Portal Server Status pages.

Note that a number of fields on this screen cannot be changed, or are currently not in use. More options will be added over time as we get more feedback from players and server admins that use our services.

As Ilythor said, these modules are in BETA testing for you guys to try out and report any issues you encounter.

Just checking if anyone will use it ;)

j/k, actually, let me try my non-admin acct.

Thank you for pointing that out. There was a setting on the page access I did forget to set. Should be working now for all Registered users.

I made a few updates to the Player/Server Registration and Management modules. Please check them out and report any issues here or in a Support Forum. I tested things pretty thoroughly (this time heeyuk!) so I think I got all the bugs out.

One addition is the ability to delete your own orphaned characters whose server has been deleted (only).

Meaning, if you made a character on Bob's Uber Server_01 and Bob took down his server and DELETED it from our database, your list of characters on his server are now deletable. We plan to start cleaning out these old, dead, orphaned characters automatically, so you will not have to worry about cleanup eventually. For now, it's in your control. No worries tho, leaving orphans lying around does not hurt anything.
