Re: New install
That is not possible. Your best bet is to patch tolive and wait for us to make it so the live client works, which will prolly happen after the next GU in Sept.

Re: New install
We are currently in Alpha, which means the Emulator is not fleshed out to the point that people can play like on live, although we are getting there. Feel free to sign onto TessEQ2 once you can and play around!
And yes, there will be a notification on the front page.

Re: New install
Servers are up/down a lot except for the TessEQ2 server where most of the development/testing is going on.

Re: New install
I have a question related to this so i thought i would add it here rather then pop up a new topic. I have 2 computers and on one of them i have a outdated eq2 which is 5609L. Is there by chance any version of EQ2Emulator that will accept that? EQ2Emulator 1.1 wont let me use it, but i heard it's supposed to support older clients.

Re: New install
You should certainly not bother using EQ2Emu 1.1, whatever that is
and use the latest binaries from SVN or at the very least, the package 0.6.5 that was released earlier this year. If 5609L is supported at all, it will be in the latest versions.
Otherwise, wander over to the 3rd-party tools forum and check out the patcher. This tool is not supported by the project necessarily, so if it doesn't work, you'll need to buy RoK or TSO disc sets. No patching required using those.

Re: New install
I recently ran into an odd problem the other day where I had to patch to live and then use an older client I had saved. I'm not sure what changed but if you fully update the trial account chances are you "should" be able to play if you use the emu patcher to get a working client version.
Village idiot...

Re: New install
So the EQ2EMuPatcher should work if there's been another client update then? Good.Xanibunib wrote:if you fully update the trial account chances are you "should" be able to play if you use the emu patcher to get a working client version.
Do you know if it will download the addon files? obviously wont be able to use them on the free account lol, but im guessing once u buy them u wont need to download 4 addons?
Iv got a real EQ2 account, but if i can get away without buying the game again then that would be great lol, 3 years of payments went into the other one :p
[EDIT]
It seems to be downloading faydark and sinking sands stuff so it should have all the addon stuff right there for the emu huh?
And i wont need to pay for a month to patch it if i can just make a trial account each time i need to update?
Can someone confirm this lol, don't want the past 3 days of patching to be a waste of time XD

Re: New install
The thing about Clients for EQ2Emulator, once you get one that works, you won't need another one until you desire functionality that your client does not support. This is why the raw, unpatched ROK and TSO disc sets are the only ones supported officially. The fact EQ2Emulator allows clients that are currently "live" is merely a by-product of our development effort. It comes out as a bonus to players who have Live accounts, because their clients can simply be pointed to EQ2Emu when they want to check out an emulator.
And no, there is no guarentee that SOE delivers the entire game to a Trial client. Thus, compatibility with EQ2Emu is not likely. But, test it out, let us know your steps. Could help a lot of others out if it works.
Though my final opinion on the matter is, it's worth the 20-40 bux as a one-time fee to pay to SOE in order to take part in the emulator project. It's the least we can do to keep the SOE beast at bay

Re: New install
Rofl, well i think its not going to be coming after me, iv spent over £300 over 3 years lol :pJohn Adams wrote:It's the least we can do to keep the SOE beast at bay
But yeh ill see if i can get it to work, its almost done 1h 3m
Im only doing it like this due to the fact i don't have RoK box, just normal eq2 box, + wasn't smart enough to buy the addon's on cd lol, just DD so i cant get them, But other than that i shouldn't see why this method wont work.
Update a client to live.
Seen it downloading addon files.
And if its over shot the supported client then ill wait.
[EDIT] It has overshot the EQ2emu, [build 5831L] but ill wait on youz patching the login server, im in no great rush just yet
