DB project recruiting

Post by Riven » Fri Oct 19, 2007 4:02 am

As EQ2emu will have a separate DB team and Lethal gave me his permission to lead the DB section, now we're looking for more developers.
New parse tool is near and work to begin to populate the world will begin asap.
Anyone that wants to join project, write here your knowledge of sql and EQ2.
Current DB Developers:
Alfa
chrrox
John Adams (DB structure atm)

Hi,
Well, I obviously want to join the DB Team =)
I'm playing EQ2 since beta and have seen the whole world of Norrath.
My SQL knowledge should be enough because I am working as an embedded software developer and webdesigner.
Would be nice if I could have a look at your aims and concepts.

Well, Lethal will make the DB forums one day or another. I'll write then how we will work (in fact this will be discussed between DB developers, so my initial document will grow and evolve). Do you have messenger or another chat program? we can talk through it. PM me with your address. You can join irc too, I'm there sometimes.

Count me in. I would like to help.
Played EQ2 for 2 years. Been a DBA and a DB programmer for over 10 years, 3 years of MySQL-specific experience, web-based (ASP/PHP) and desktop (C++,Java,C#). Very fluent in all major flavors of SQL and stored procedures.
Please let me know where I can be of help. I will PM you with my MSN particulars, if you use that messenger, we can discuss this further there if you like.

sounds nice, I'll chat with you. I need to know everyone's time zone because a DB developers chat would be awesome before new parser is out.
This morning (UTC+1) I'm in a MCSE course, when I arrive home at afternoon I'll begin to talk to people that writes here or PM me. The project needs 3 or 4 DB developers atm. When we see the work needed maybe we'll ask for more.

Riven, definitely use Diamente for structure design ahead of me. His credentials exceed mine by far :) Plus as I explained privately, I am extremely busy and would only get to it when I had time. I will still do what I can, collect or help build tables however we decide to lay them out.

well, developers will be more immersed in the DB project, but everyone can contribute, of course.

It seems we've got a good start to the DB team. I would like to sign up as my c++ isn't quite so good to join into the development of the eq2emu application. I have been working with sql including mysql for about 6 years now. I was wondering what all you you have planned and staffed at the moment?

I have good experience.

I have a lot of good experience in sql and I have played eq2 for quite some time and have several maxed out characters. I think it would be fun to help with the db.

Along the same lines as John Adams, I have little free time myself as well...but I'll devote what I can!
I did note that LE made the DB Dev forums today (or I just noticed them today, one or the other...), so we can probably move this topic there.

I have been a windows software developer and database developer for more than 14 years now. I have a lot of experience with SQL and developing relational databases. My current datababase project on which I'm working has over 250 tables.
I've also been an EQ2 player since its inception.
I may not be able to contribute much due to my schedule, but I would like the opportunity to assist anywhere is needed for this project.
Let me know and I would be happy to be interviewed if needed.
Thanks,
Mike

At the moment I am getting familiar with the code written so far and other general stuff, but I will dive into helping very soon on both DB and coding.

I am back and running server "IronFist". Please let me know what I can do to help the DB team charge ahead. About the only think I fully understand is the parser... I will start off exploring the Kunark exp pack. Again PLEASE let me know how I could be of more assistance.
