Spawn Expires timer

Post by John Adams » Mon Feb 15, 2010 12:42 pm

I am sitting in Live now watching the harvest nodes on Outpost of the Overlord, and without anyone else in the zone, these nodes are poofing from existence and spawning elsewhere.

This leads me to ask for additional functionality in our code and database for a expires_timer or something that will remove the spawn after 'x' seconds(or whatever). Or, we can use the respawn timer(?) not sure if these nodes are poofing at the same time length it would take them to respawn if they were in fact harvested.

Thoughts?

Good idea. Do we want the spawn_expire column in the spawn table or one of the spawn_location?

I imagine it should go in spawn_location_placement, with the other timer (respawn)?

Ok. When a spawn depops due to a spawn timer expiring, does another one spawn immediately? Or should it wait out its respawn timer?

In watching the spawns on Live 'depop', I think there is a delay. I'd say let's start with the default repop timer, and if that comes to be too slow, we can make a hard-coded 60s timer or something.

(yes, I used the word 'hard-coded' ~gasp~)
