Push to version 0.7.0
Alright guys,
I have been talking with John and we have put together a gameplan for releasing 0.7.0. What we want to do is get the current system as bug free as we possibly can and then release 0.7.0 with the current database attached to the release.
Once 0.7.0 is released we are going to offically cut support for the RoK and TSO box sets for all releases after 0.7.0. At that point all SVN builds will assume that the user has the Sentinel's Fate client or newer. This is an unfortunate necessity considering the item changes (among others) that we are going to have to make in order to continue moving forward with support. Trying to keep both pre and post-SF clients compatible would quickly become cumbersome to both server admins and developers.
Now the important part! What I need from you guys. Could each of you go through all the bugs assigned to you and close anything that has already been fixed? Scat, could you also go through and look over the stuff assigned to LE? Zcor, could you look through the stuff assigned to Xani too (I think there is only one)? I will also be going through and picking any out that I believe to be closed and probably send each of you a PM with a list. I will also be assigning a priority to any bugs that do not already have them. Once we all make those first passes to close lingering tickets, I would like everyone to concentrate on fixing the bugs on the list until we can get as many resolved as possible.
Thanks in advance!

Sounds like a plan.
Yup I can handle what is assigned to Xani, let the bug squashing commence!

Re: Push to version 0.7.0
Sounds great, Zexis. One thing I might suggest, once it comes time to 'break the news' to the community about ROK/TSO - we'll be sure to tell them they can use 0.7.0 until they can no longer stand it, so no one should be forced to buy another box set. We'll have to, of course... but frankly, my TSO disks were bad when I got them (2 sets, ahem) and I've never even used TSO box
I'll throw down another $100 for 2 SF sets (Sara would never allow me to get one only for myself) and get ready for the next phase.
FYI, I was in communication with LE today. He finally came up for air
We talked mostly about SVN and the destruction I was about to cause it, and he seems ok with me doing whatever I need to do to keep things going. I also asked him how to get the x64 set up so we can compile our own, and I got this response:

So it looks like we're on the way to getting SF clients to work. Woot. Weird that he mentions the same nightmare Character Sheet that Z's been pulling his hair out about the last 3 weeksLethalEncounter wrote:Oops, looks like I put those libraries into the LUA directory but never added them to SVN. I added them now. Btw I have the latest client working although the char sheet struct needs to be updated and I haven’t had a chance to fix it yet. I’ll try to get that done later tonight.

Absolutely. Plus we tend to get the live clients working after every big update (quarterly) so they could always patch to live on one of those days if they don't want to buy SF.John Adams wrote:Sounds great, Zexis. Oh and John, I should have that matrix together for you over the next few days on how the "blue stats" on items are going to combine.

Re: Push to version 0.7.0
OMFG!..That character sheet is a bitch.
I think I got it, but I'm sure LE's version will be better. It's gonna be interesting to see how close I came to getting it right.
BTW, can you ask LE about how the hell we are gonna do the item stat thing?

Re: Push to version 0.7.0
I have an idea for combining stats. I think we should be able to do it with some SQL commands since in the instance of all the combinations they always take the highest value of the bunch and use that.

I don't think you understand what I'm talking about...I'm talking about struct wise how blue stats are going to be handled for floats on the fly.ZexisStryfe wrote:I have an idea for combining stats. Re: Push to version 0.7.0
So is this still the gameplan for 0.7.0? Fix the current bugs and release? I'm confused because I'm seeing a lot of different threads about priorities and what should be in 0.7.0. Should the loot/smart loot system be in 0.7.0? Should the harvesting/ground spawns be in 0.7.0? Is there one thread that I should be looking at to see what is left before we release 0.7.0?

Re: Push to version 0.7.0
Sorry for the confusion, Rhas. Zexis is the PM, so whatever he says is what we probably should be focusing on. But (sorry to sound like this, again) since nothing was getting done for so long, I tend to bump things that might be of interest - because everyone pretty much hates bug fixing (probably because there are so many
)
Critical, crashing, locking, freezing bugs I am wanting to get resolved before 0.7.0. Me personally, I would love to see systems that are currently implemented become FINISHED finally, rather than be all half-ass and partially working (loot, ground spawns, guilds, mailboxes, combat/spells (which I think are almost done), etc).
Basically, I'm just offering an alternative to "bugs only"... and 0.7.0 doesn't have to be released at all this entire year, we're already so far behind any sort of schedule... pick your battles, the ones that are fun and keep you interested - lest we find a ghost town in our dev forums again

Re: Push to version 0.7.0
While yes, getting us as bug free as possible the goal, I understand it is a pie in the sky type thing... something you want but never actually achieve. Ideally beyond bug I would like to get the broken or half completed systems (guilds, ground spawns, etc.) mostly functional and feature complete, then we can go ahead and release 7.0.
As always I defer to John since he is the expert, however I would say the starting of whole new systems (ie- achievements or AAs) should wait until after 0.7 is released.

Agree 100%.ZexisStryfe wrote:As always I defer to John since he is the expert, however I would say the starting of whole new systems (ie- achievements or AAs) should wait until after 0.7 is released.
Scatman is forbidden to start something new til all the old stuff is complete.
Rhas, you might take a look at this thread, which will show all the systems I originally thought we needed to complete the big functionality of Emu, but also many of the unfinished ones I keep bitching about.
Sorry if any of this seems overwhelming, but you can kind of get the idea how we were once organized, then went all ape-shit sideways trying to get whatever we could done to call it "progress". Now we're kinda stuck in the mud, and need to be rocked loose.

Re: Push to version 0.7.0
Bah! Guilds are 8/10 finished! I even had the guild recruiting picture data finished!
I agree though. Especially with harvestables. It's not a huge system and it can be improved. However, we do need information on exactly how it works.
