TSO How compatiable is it?

Post by xinux » Fri Mar 12, 2010 12:16 am

Just got it from newegg today did a fresh install and started playing around with it. Well i'm lucky if i can stay connected very long it usally locks up after fighting a few mobs, leveling or turning in a quest. I know it's still alpha and accept that just curious more then anything.
I tried playing on Parallax and TSO say's it comes with The Fallen Dynasty but i'm guessing i'm missing some paks cause it crashes as soon as i talk to the npc to teleport where ever it suppose to take me.

Well mainly just wanted to say hi since TessEQ2 is down and it was the only server that would let me actually play.

The Version i have is SOEBUILD=5040 Aug, 15th 2008
EQ II - Build=1360 (Orig) - Build=1360 (DoF) - Build=2654 (KoS) - Build=3375 (Classic) - Build=3554 (EoF)
EQ II - Build=4412 (RoK) - Build=5122 (TSO) - Build=6118 (SF) - Build=7628 (DoV) - Build=8295 (Aod)

I bought TSO on ebay, installed it, did not patch and I cannot connect to TESS, it crashes when it gets to "Adding Character to zone". I'm eager to goof around on here. Any help would be appreciated.

Can you try connecting to another one of the public servers, just to see if it is a Tess-related thing? We're having some issues with the server itself crashing a lot lately, trying to track it down.

See if you can isolate it to that one server.

Also, make sure you are deleting your cache/logincache and any "crash" logs that might be left over from a previous crash.

I use this to launch EQ2 client, for example:

Code: Select all

@echo off
rd cache /S /Q
del logincache-us\*.* /Q
del *crash*.log
start everquest2.exe

I seem to be getting the same thing the guy in the "cannot connect" thread is getting. TESS crashes at the point where I mentioned and (so far 2) of the other servers just boot me back to logon before even getting that far.

I created a batch file from the example you had there and am now launching from that.

On a side note, something that I did apparently duped my characters as well, I have 2 of each of 2 of my test characters.

Having duped characters showing on the login screen is a known issue. It's just better to leave it be, If you try and delete one or the other, It will effectively delete that character...it's just a display issue.

Another side note. My Logitech G15 Keyboard is picking up EQ2 like it used to when I originally played on live and displaying various things on the LCD. I don't know if that could possible be interfering in any way. I also just rebooted for the hell of it, didn't do any good though, not that I expected it to.

Can anyone else log all the way in? I just read in another thread that the RoK client doesn't even work anymore so glad I didn't buy that version. I was actually about to to see if it would resolve this issue, apparently not. Is anyone else able to log in or is it just a few of us that are having this problem?

Is there a fix in the works or is there something we can do on our end to get functional?
