As most of you know, the state of our database is constantly changing due to the Alpha stage of our server software. This equates to occasional changes in table structures which could render any data in those tables obsolete. It is for this reason the Content Team has always stated that a database will not be released until EQ2Emulator 0.8.0 (BETA), when 90% or more of the emulator features are completed.
That said, we have come to a point in the project's evolution where we feel we might actually progress faster, and possibly get more developers interested, if we did have some test data for admins to play with. This would include our current 30 or so spawned zones, items, spells and our LUA script data - all of which is still in an generally unstable, developmental stage.
Thanks, Your EQ2Emu Team!

Does this DB release include an offline/LAN repack for an eq2 client by any chance? I could never understand how to setup the db on my comp for my own offline server.

There is an offline server repack available on the forums which uses the minilogin. The DB data will not include that, however you could definately layer the data on top of the serverpack to get what you are looking for.

Releasing it now would definately help attract more developers etc. When EQEmu was in its heydays way back when, nobody had populated Shar Vahl. Because we had the database with all the mob info etc I took it upon myself to populate Shar Vahl and uploaded it to EQEmu. If I didnt have the database with all the info people would have been waiting alot longer for that city to be populated, which is the home of the Vah Shir.
More people could help with questlines, spells etc etc.

It's better a more complete but buggy DB than a minimal. More people will enter the emu to see how it goes and more angry players will smash you with new bugs that are stoppers or annoying, so more beta testers in the end. Go and release it!
