My bad SOE support story

Post by JCL » Sat May 01, 2010 9:29 am

Hey I was bored and figured I'd tell my story of my recent use of SOE support.

I re-subbed to EQ2 on 4/20. I created a warden on Friday and leveled it to 32 by Sunday. I had decided to make a troubador and was out harvesting for rares on my warden.

My game ended up crashing and kept giving me a pop-up message to contact support if the error didn't go away. So I did and later that day got an email that included the following in the message:
SOE Support wrote: Our data shows that your account has been sold and 3 rd party program for harvest bot was used so your account has been banned until we can verify the account ownership.
Must be some bad data since I re-subbed it and was not using any 3rd party programs. So I lost a day of gameplay and missed out on a free POF aa run. I called support Monday and eventually got it un-suspended and they added one day to my account.

I tried to log into the character that wasn't working and again it didn't work, so the original issue that I petitioned about wasn't resolved. Luckily it was resolved when the game was patched Tuesday so i didn't have to go through the poor support anymore.

I'm sure everyone has had crazy support problems before, this is just the first time I have had it with SOE. Thanks for reading.

This is due to a program they are using to catch plat farmers. It is causing a lot of false positives and many accounts are being banned because of it. They said it was resolved, but evidently not.

Yeah, there's a lot of uproar on the official forums about it.

My parter and I both have exempt payment accounts, for reasons I prolly shouldn't go into... ;) She wanted to move a character from her exempt account, to her second account that she pays for. SOE claim they can't move characters from an exempt payment account to a PAYING account. I also have 2 accounts and was able to move a character from a PAYING account, to my exempt one with no problems.

Think they're trying to tell us they don't want our money?

I think EQ2 should be free-to-play!

That would sure make our job here a lot easier.
