I cant connect to my own server...

Post by Astal » Fri May 14, 2010 10:45 am

I have ports 9000-9200 forwarded. Here is my loginserver.ini

What happens is i try to connect get the random key generated in console then i get dropped

For worldaddress= ive tried my ip, a dyndns.org address for myself and pool-96-247-153-98.altnpa.east.verizon.net doesnt make a difference. So any and all help will be appreciated.

Code: Select all

### --- This file tells world.exe what loginserver to connect to.
### --- Change the account and password fields to the information you used when you created your SERVER account.

### --- NOTE: the word "Server" is added to each server automaticly.

It may not be a big deal to you, but you shouldn't post your server account info (name/pwd). I went ahead and removed it ;)

If you want this server accessible from the outside world, you need a dyndns or no-ip public domain name - ie, astal.no-ip.org or astal.dyndns.com whatever. You only need port 9000 open, since that's what you set your world to. 9100 is our side, the loginserver port. That should be all you need.

sorry bout that hehehe, and thanks.

Say that doesnt work. I have my apocalypsenowish.dyndns.org in the file. It still drops me after i start to connect. I have the dyndns set up as game server and database. Illl have to look and see if i need to configure anything else on their site or not.

Im using the latest files from the SVN and using version 6184L of eq 2 if that helps

Hmmm i bet i have to set up startingzones in the database ok maybe not

No, you shouldn't have to set anything up in the DB to get access. The fact you are logging in via our LoginServer, finding your own server and seeing activity in the console is a good start.

You might need to un-comment that internalipaddress= line, make sure it's the IP of the EQ2World.exe machine, and that all port forwarding is going to that IP. Again, you should only need port 9000 (TCP/UDP both).

Yeah the latest serverpack has all our data in it. Hmm, you might need to put a record in your HOSTS file that points you to your public IP via the dyndns url.

C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts:

Code: Select all

96.247.153.98  apocalypsenowish.dyndns.org

I dont know if this will help any at all for future issues but, I have found in almost EVERY game that I have hosted that the servers cannot listen to both LAN and WAN at the same time. This means that if you have set your server up to run on local network only using any of the following for IP signals ("localhost" , "127.0.0.1" , 192.168.1.xxx") it will not except client connections that are using your WAN (Internet) IP. Since you say that an outside client is able to connect but you are not, my guess is that you have your server files set to your domain IP or WAN IP, and that you are trying to connect your client to a local network IP (localhost, 127.0.0.1, 192.168.1.xxx). Try to change the IP that your own client connects with to your WAN IP and see if that resolves the problem.

Like I said this was a common problem I have seen in hosting several other games and it may help here

EQ2Emulator has WAN and LAN IP address support in LoginServer.ini

Code: Select all

worldaddress=EXTERNAL_IP_HERE
internalworldaddress=INTERNAL_IP_HERE (If used, otherwise blank)
We thought of everything. ;)
