Spell Examines - Sentinel's Fate+

Post by John Adams » Fri May 14, 2010 11:27 am

Zcoretri, gonna need your expertise here. I'm in live right now poking around at every screen I can get my hands on because the data versions are just flying up, and any hope of getting SF to work needs a few good solid collects. Something I am noticing is the new "PVP" checkbox on Spell/Arts examines. Something I'd always known, but troubled over, was how to get both PvE and PvP spell data - and now it appears SOE has made that easy. Just examine a spell, hit the check box, and see the new data.

What I'd like to get from you is an analysis on whether or not BOTH PvE and PvP data appears in just the examine, or does the client fetch new data from the server when we click the checkbox only. Meaning, can we just examine spells and expect to get both sets of values at the same time - and the checkbox is merely a UI "toggle" of what is displayed?

If it's a re-fetch, then I think we're going to need to re-collect all our spells too - and while doing so, hit that PvP check each time on and off.

Add to this, we'll need a way to store that alternate configuration in our spells data. I can come up with table concepts, but wanted to run it by you first in case you've already given this some thought.

PvP is not a priority, but collecting data properly always is ;) Thanks.

Also, are there entirely different "AA"s on PVP servers? I noticed none of my Crusader, Paladin or Shadows have a PVP checkbox, even for those that appear to be castable spells... unless they grow a check box after I gain the ability?

Any idears?

I have never played on any PvP server so I really can't answer the question about entirely different AA's. My guess would that they are the same but have the PvP checkbox you describe.

i sent in a bunch of logs today, one of which NFP-20101514-a.log had the pvp merchant stuff. i r-clicked (where applicable), examined, and hit the pvp box.

there was one merchant Vintage Gear that had piles of stuff for every lvl and class, but the other merchants seemed limited to stuff that my 80 warden could equip and lvl 65-90 only.

i'm fairly sure that normal damage is just a formula to scale down for pvp. and i recently read that they're going to make spell damage the same for pvp as pve (they're trying to fix resists and not really hitting it quite yet). the only radical differences are for some spell types (ie: charm doesn't charm in pvp) and procs (ie: there was one i noticed that went from a de-hate proc to Applies Annoy: causes target to lose target for x seconds).
my client version: 12682L, 2016/06/06
last one that will run on XP cause i'm just a stick-in-the-mud

Awesome Eranadi. I am downloading your logs now and will make them available for Zcoretri to look at. Since these collects are with the latest client, I cannot process them fully til our structs and/or opcodes are finished for SF, but keep the data coming!

All spells , items, AAs , everything is the same on PvP against PvE content, when you clic the checkbox (on a PvP server) it shows the damage or heal amount or effects the spell or item or AA has when engaged in a PvP combat.

If they didnt do that Ice comet and spells like that would oneshot just everybody in pvp. Roots for instance show reduced duration in PvP.

That's all correct. All the checkboxes do is show the difference in pve vs pvp. I've played out PvP to max level.
