This is critical to get fixed. We cannot afford to scare people off because the server is unstable, crashing, can't login or zone - all of which have plagued this emulator since Jan '10

Zoning broken
There is something so horribly broken about zoning. It takes me upwards of 5 minutes to log into Tess, and once in a /zone QueensColony is stuck on Logging into zone server for over 20 minutes now. No crashes, no issues other than unable to zone.

Re: Zoning broken
i've had that a couple of times, and when i hit the exit button i can't get back in because the server seems to think i'm still using my account.John Adams wrote:/zone QueensColony is stuck on Logging into zone server for over 20 minutes now
(which is why, btw, i wanted to check for bugs on my local server as i can restart it kinda easier)

Re: Zoning broken
Just ran a few quick tests on my server. I'm able to zone fine if the zone I am going to is already running, if it's not I don't zone at all.John Adams wrote:There is something so horribly broken about zoning. Re: Zoning broken
I loaded up my server and was able to zone into 5 unloaded zones just fine. I went North Qeynos -> Queens Colony -> Tim Deep -> Antonica -> Splitpaw. I'm not running the 64-bit Emu so I wonder if it has anything to do with that. I'm running the latest HEAD revision with my latest patches that I submitted.
One thing I did notice is that the emu thinks there are 2 clients connected when you zone. The older client then drops off eventually (seemed around 30 minutes). I'm wondering if that has anything to do with it.
I'll leave my server up today while I drive back home (5 hours
) so you guys can see if you can get it to not zone for you.

Re: Zoning broken
From the time I posted this message, til right now... Tess has been locked up, not accepting anymore connections. Stuck on 2 clients, 1 zone, 1 of the clients is Eradani who had been offline for hours, and the other is me, who locked up while zoning.
Something is seriously wrong here. Be sure to test this using the Release DB, since that is the data that Tess uses and I am nearly 100% certain this is Data+Engine vs simply Engine.
Once upon a time, EQ2Emu used to have a nice dead-lock catcher. That seems to be a thing of the past. Too bad.

Re: Zoning broken
i got to char select and picked a toon that should be in Queen's Colony, 15 min later still wasn't there, hit exit and that's that.
i can't remember if i was stuck on "waiting for zone info" or "logging into zone".

Re: Zoning broken
Gah. I cannot get this to happen with the current svn and tess's db. Gonna keep trying...
