any comments on last few days collecting plans?
mostly just thinking it out while testcopy is down for maint, but if anyone has a wishlist or ideas...
I've got 3, possibly 4, days left on my sub and I'd like to know if anyone has any preferences as to what I get after finishing FG quests today. (I'll have one run right to the end and probably go back other days for quick run to the instance.)
I could start Nek and/or TS, but would never get those zones even 1/2 done OR I could start doing RoV runs and Nek Castle and the HQs that need them.
Logs might be long for Nek Castle as I'd be locked out after killing any nameds. I suppose I could do Boar's Head and Red Marble then camp and do the Lockets. And isn't there something with having to kill poor Billy twice that means 2 days? Or is that just because (on pvp nobody carries any gold) we always forgot to have 5g with us?
HQ Notes:
25 A Strange Black Rock: ant, nek, ts, RoV
30 Hadden's Earring: ts, ant, nek, cl, nek castle (lord everling), RoV
35 A Missing Mask: all in nek castle to everling (needs: The Everling Lockets, The Boar's Head, The Red Marble done first)
35 Stiletto's Orders Intercepted: ts, RoV, Cove of Decay
30 An Axe from the Past: giant language, ts, Cove of Decay
Plan:
- everyday left I'll do quick FG and RoV run - nameds and instance only. (grrr - RoV is sooo easy to do a named run now - they're always up)
25th: finish quests in FG and instance (30), start on SBR (30)
26th: finish SBR (30), nek castle run for all the "little" quests there (35)
27th: Missing Mask (35) and Hadden's (35) in Nek Castle
28th: Axe from Past and Stiletto's
29th: optional extra day to make up for possible underestimating (I resent that: I'm trained as a programmer and NEVER underestimate time requirements.)
The only thing that might get in my way is ppl coming to rip up my back yard on Friday. Then I'll sleep all weekend and start learning about processing all this data. And just fyi, I may resub my account for a month some other time if we run out of data. (Would be nice if testcopy never got wiped - sure is handy being able to be any lvl.) But for now, I'm glad to be seeing the end of GU56, BetaGrinds, and WarFails on Nagafen.

well, found a new bug that puts an end to tonight's work. opening chests is causing drop to char select. hope they get it fixed asap.

Re: any comments on last few days collecting plans?
Eradani, getting all the minute details of a zone is the best possible collection... but if you only have 2-3 days left, it might also be good to simply run through the remaining Shattered Lands zones, at least collecting spawns for us to put into our DB. We can always go back and re-collect quest/item/merchant data later. Convo's are always nice to have up front, because we can give a little life to our comatose spawns - but not as necessary as at least having bodies in the zone.
So if you're up for that, turn on collector and just hit every zone you have access to from Ant/CL through Lavastorm/Everfrost+ that are Shattered Lands zones... that's our first real goal, to finish the original game. If you still have time after that, the next expansion/adventure pack would be next. Etc.
Oh, and I haven't checked if this update was the one that did away with our noob islands and replaced them with Halas. If so, it might be top priority to get the new Halas noob stuff done (though I am still unclear wtf this all means anyway since I am not an active eq2 player anymore)
I hope that's not too much to ask.

Re: any comments on last few days collecting plans?
since i'm crashing on opening a chest, this may well be the best use of a few days. i didn't check the bug this morning, but i am sure they're more concerned with WFs than testcopy. /sigh i was having fun planning out the HQ runs.
so i'll run around the Shattered Lands and talk to every npc i see. i think the exploring achievement will help as i should be getting most discos from it.

Re: any comments on last few days collecting plans?
i do have a "grace day" on my account so i'm off for one last day of collecting.
NOOOOOOO. idk what happened, but i did log in once today. NOW "You do not have an EverQuest II Subscription". SO, I'm done for now.
what i've got so far is, at least, a run through of every major shattered zone but lava and feerrrooottt.
mentored to the high end of the zone:
- i spent a day in Nek, doing some quests and talking to all the npcs.
- i spent about 1/2 a day in TS (just cause it's easier to get around) and also did RoV (cause it's my fav dungeon ever)
- i spent a few hours in EL, killing nameds i saw and doing a couple quests - including all the bootwhat'shisname disco books
- i ran and revived (still mentored to 40) through RiverVale
- i spent less time in Zek, still killing nameds, but not doing quests
- in EL, RV, and Zek, i talked to all quest givers and got their quests, but deleted them on leaving
running out of time, i unmentored:
- ran all over EF and talked to npcs, getting quests and deleting them after
in all these zones - Nek, TS, EL, Zek, EF - i rode the griffons or new horse routes from all points to all points. i split these off into their own files, usually last, but i think, for some stupid reason, i did Zek's horse routes first. All i have to say about these new horse routes is OMFG who is too lazy to run from EL docks to RV or EL docks to the scarecrow patch? the Zek one is particularly obnoxious as it's a straight line of about 5 hops from docks -> 3 toes valley -> .... -> bridge by DFC. They also put in a new tunnel from the mines area to the spot with that high rock tower.
i badly needed a break at this point and it was either do the harvesting quest in EL or start on Halas and since some ppl haven't seen Halas yet, i decided to do that for a bit until the boringness of the zone forced me to sleep. one thing i thought of while sleeping is that the new newbie zones will be easy to collect from a trial account so i'm not going back to halas today.

Re: any comments on last few days collecting plans?
Is the new Halas zone, a priority? I have run about 3 chars through it already, and I could run another through collecting the data. I was going to try to get Thundering Steppes done, but after reading this post was wondering which one is more important. Or do we care, I'm planning on reupping my sub when it comes due in a couple of weeks so not really a hurry, at least for me.

Re: any comments on last few days collecting plans?
I'm fairly sure nobody has done Halas yet. I started, but I don't like the zone so slacked off. I think the plan was to get ALL the starting areas so we'd have some more choices at the start, but not worry about anything over SS.
The few quests I did do in Halas were really hard to get as the dialogues went round in circles a few times. We need every path through the dialogues.
