Re: EverQuest 2 Free-to-Play (SOE Official)
you know, just last week i read a post by the new senior producer in which he said they didn't have any plans to do this. of course, it was in the ambiguous Politico language and several people said so and several other people called them paranoid.
i notice that you can keep paying your $15 a month to play on dead servers OR pay $35 / toon to xfer to the new ones. no - it's not an xfer, it's a limited /testcopy kind of thing.
"You have access to eight of the game's 24 character classes, and four of the most popular races in the game from which to create your character. "
- sk, which other tank?
- ranger, a bard or sin?
- warden and who?
- which 2 mages?
which are they going to say are the most popular races? my choices:
- dark elf, kerra, ratonga, fae
but i bet they slip in those stupid ugly lizard snarks.
http://everquest2.com/_themes/default/i ... Matrix.jpg hahaha
i was wrong about classes races:
- swash, brig, wiz, lock, guard, zerker, templar, inq
- human, erudite, barb, 1/2 elf (ya, those sure are popular)
coin limitations on free play, lol: 5g or 20g / lvl
enough for my comments. i'm just floored. it sounds so stupid.

Re: EverQuest 2 Free-to-Play (SOE Official)
seems like a lot of popular retail games are starting to offer a F2P option: First DDO, Lotro, and now EQII, wonder what game will be next.

While slightly seems interesting you wouldn't get far if you only had free/silver tier. You would need gold or platinum. And then they limit you to 4 races (unless you pay) for gold/plat which is a scam there since you can get them all on live eq2. And the gold is the same fee as live.

Re: EverQuest 2 Free-to-Play (SOE Official)
The whole thing seems like yet another SOE "see what we're doing for YOU because we CARE so much about YOU, not the DOLLAR" schemes. As usual, they will miss the mark on what true F2P is all about, and it will crash and burn and EQ2Emulator will still be here for those who want to run a real, unlimited, custom world

Such a true statement John, personally this may help us out a little, I mean hell if the game is free, no one can now complain about paying a membership to collect data

There will not be another set of opcodes because of this, that would not make very much sense from a programming perspective. This changes nothing from our perspective that I can see.Eradani wrote:another set of op-codes inc

Apparently they will be selling things like weapons, armor, mounts, potions, rez-items, etc from the station marketplace for EQ2X.

Are you nuts? Every other week there are new opcodes. Why wouldn't they continue to evolve their client/game data? lolZcoretri wrote:There will not be another set of opcodes because of this, that would not make very much sense from a programming perspective. I don't see it being any worse than it is now... but still. Changes, always. Non-stop. Diediedie.

Opcodes haven't changed for almost two months now...they don't change THAT often, especially now that they have gone to the 3 month update cycle.
I'm still using client build 6563L from June 7 to connect to live.

there will be some changes as they've made Major UI changes. the one that may affect us is combining the Inventory and Persona windows.

Oh, so why isn't any SF client compatible yet since we've had the same opcodes for months?Zcoretri wrote:Opcodes haven't changed for almost two months now...they don't change THAT often

If Sony could only somehow do a massive 20GB~ update to end all updates, until something breaks a week later.
Get the issue? Sony seems to break a lot of shiz per update.
