Hey whats up!
Hi, I was a gm on Scorpious2k for the eqemu for over a year and have since been playing eq2 hardcore for over a year, so im not noobish to either game, just curious to how far the eq2emulator has come? I see posts about RoK on here so is it really up to EoF excluding some fine tuning that i know is never easy to make it perfect? I would love to set up a public eq2 server. Im sure people ask this stuff all the time so thanks to who ever answers.

From what I understand, they're waiting for RoK boxset to come out. After that they plan on staying on that release for quite awhile. Unfortunately I am one of the lucky few that are waiting for that boxset to come out and these guys to update everything so I can play.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong

Setting up a server is easy if you want to see current status of things. You can download a binary from sourceforge, or to get the latest in the code, get a SVN client, VS Studio 2k3, and download the source and compile.
There is alot of stuff missing, but there is alot of stuff done already. Check it out!

If your still wondering if your client is compatible with the emulator, here what Lethal said,
To find your version, the best way is to run EQ2 in windowed mode. You can get to this once you reach the screen where you type in your username and password. Push Alt+Enter to go into windowed mode and look at the title bar of the window where it says Build=XXXX.LethalEncounter: The emu will now be able to support more than one client version at a time again. The versions supported are 4523L, 4427L, and 4412.

I highly doubt you will find a "popular server" right now. There's nothing to do but create a character and log in. However, you can look at the server list from the front page of this site to see how many people are connected. The most you might see is 1 - and that's prolly me.derekj54 wrote:if i didnt want to make a server, and instead just connect to a popular one, would my current eq2 client work?
