Recent Downtime

Post by ilythor » Sat Nov 06, 2010 12:03 am

Hey everyone. Your well loved CM here.

I'll go ahead and make this official, it's been a bit quiet around here recently, and for the two or three of you following and asking questions with no devs around! Thanks.

As you've probably deduced, life seems to have caught up with everyone around here, and I'm here in between my study breaks for exams. With all of the devs sorting out real life worries, Eq2Emu's development has slowed. But fear not, my friends. We will be back soon!

I can't exactly give you a solid time and a place, but a rough guess would put it early December, and then go quiet for the Christmas break, but chances are we'll be back 2011 to kick some ass in January! If they come back sooner, don't hold be at gun point for lying :P

Still here to orientate you new guys, I'll answer any questions that I can. It's just a little heads up as to whats going on around here!

Would love to help out, just need to know if working from the server pack 1.2 w/db included is a safe place to start or not.

Don't know if this applies, but that's what I am using. At least to try to figure out what the bugs are! Haven't fixed any yet  !

1.2 & the db is exactly what we are working on. The db your using is linked to ours, any changes we make get passed onto you. Any changes you make, place them in submissions section, and I'll sticky them till someone with DB privileges shows up again!

Running through a couple of tests on versioning of the client. Thanks for the heads up from both of you.

I wouldn't fuss with Content bugs at this time, since the entire DB (content) is being wiped and restarted. The only reason TessEQ2 still has the original release was because we simply do not have time - or resources - to continue right now. Eventually, perhaps.

The "bugs" we'd like to see fixed are those relating to Server Functionality - mostly discovered via the current content you have your hands on. Things like spells that don't work right, or discovering the visual effects for them. There's a lot, we still need all those identified - even with the DB revamp.

Any "systems" that are incomplete - Guilds, Chat, In-game Mail, Combat, could all use completing.

And NEW "systems" like Raiding, Achievements, Traits, AA, Tradeskills... all those could be started.

There's a ton of things to do, I'm just sorry there is no one here to answer questions. LE was "the man" forever... and Scatman was "the man v2.0" and is also MIA. We've got other devs, but we kinda threw them to the wolves and as they can attest, the learning curve is steep... but I believe we can all learn together if we talk on the forums here, or IRC, and share info.

I'd personally like to see this community rebuilt to be a self-sustaining organism again ;) Thank you to those who are keeping it alive.

John,
Sorry life had kept me away so long, miss getting to chat it up with Lethal and I wish I had just 5 minutes inside his brain right now.
No worries, I'll get up to speed and the learning curve is extremely steep, but the community has always been supportive. I'm sure we'll all find the answers we're looking for by continuing to communicate and work together.
