Tess - Crashing a lot again

Post by John Adams » Sat Dec 11, 2010 9:09 am

Hello, my name is Tess, and I have issues.

MutexMap?! I hate that guy!

Code: Select all

Anyway, not sure what's going on. Seems every 1 player that logs into Tess lately is crashing her. Again. Oddly, no code has changed - ? I'll check that the last thing I committed didn't break something ;)

I'll take a look at this issue sometime this afternoon John.
I have finals today through Wednesday and Alexis' lung collapsed last night from her double pneumonia as well. Just bare with me, I have a rough couple days ahead.

Holy crap! She's got pneumonia? Wishing her well, dude. And as always, none of this here matters vs real life/family. Take your time, we aren't going anywhere.

Double pneumonia with her heart condition and now a collapsed lung. Ya she's doing terrific. Finally got her to the hospital yesterday morning stubborn ass woman. When she went they about yelled at her. The doctors were upset with her for not taking care of herself. I was like uh-huh told you so.
She's on zithromax prednisone and rocephin. Ya they pulled out the big guns.

Looking over the console.txt file and the error logging currently posted in your code snippet. This is all in regards to the locking down of networking functionality again to single threading / packet handling. Not that single threading caused this issue by and of itself. The program currently seems to have several flaws in packet handling since the introduction to Mutex.

I'll be nice and not blame the Mutex itself (even though it does contribute), but instead there is a communications issue between Mutex and IP Threading at the moment as well as packet handling not being addressed properly with the 200+ lines of future dating packets. <-- Will have to dig on this one as we have several areas that can cause future dating packets and incorrect packet handling (send/receives). ~weeeeeeeeeeeeee~

Thank you Gilraak,
She's my fiance' but we're close enough I already say "ok wife o mine time for you to listen to your old man". Thats when I normally get a giggle or something but as bad as she's feeling I'll settle for a smile on the inside.

Tess' fix will come very soon. And most likely be a part of the step back and re-evaluate where we are phase. Sometimes in coding we have to take 2 steps back to get 1 step forward, just as we do in life.

The fixes are coming.

Well I wish you both the best of luck, and as I try to find at least one positive in every situation, this will bring you both really close together. :D

And I agree about the coding. I am a web developer so I know how one thing can break something, than you realize, shoot, this broke this which broke that, so as you work backwards, this breaks that, which originally broke that !

Oh the joys of life. Anywho. There is a real question I have.

Why do different client builds produce different results? I've done many test with TSO out of box and TSO patched up to 6118(?) and noticed both builds do something different bug wise, or glitch wise?

Either Tess is crashed (al la Hung Processes) or we haven't had a single client attempt to connect in 2 full days. Either way, it's a damn shame.

Tell you what John, since I love you ever so much. I'm going to get on Tess and bust her up (;

Nahh, I will connect tonight, and goof around. I'm on the mood to play my favorite class (Cocere)(?)

:D

I'll let you know if I run into any bugs that are worth noting. !

I'll unfortunately be unable to test Tess for a few days since her second lung collapsed I'm on my way back to Cali for 1 1/2 weeks so I wont miss xmas and be there for her. I'll try to look at it but odds are I wont be able to resolve it until after she's out of the hospital.
Sorry for the inconvenience, but I can't focus until she's out.

That goes to show emulates is a really good, dedicated guy.

I hope your wife recovers quickly and all ends well. Hopefully doctors are also being helpful.

I'm back. Minus one wolf - she attacked me and I have stitches running up the length of my arm.

I'll be taking a look at Tess over the next few days. Alexis is doing better, I'm sick, Kona (wolfdog is gone), college started back up but I still have time slated.
