No NPCs?

Post by Leoroar » Mon Nov 26, 2007 5:52 pm

Hello all. I just downloaded "Play the Fae" and updated it to the latest version. Took a few hours, but I finally got it. I started the game and had no problem creating a character and connecting to the server, but when I entered the world there were no NPCs and I had no hair. I know the build is wrong (4530L) but I'm not sure that is the problem. Also, at the startup, it says that the older versions of Window's Vista might slow the game or it wont run correctly. Can anyone give me some advice or is there any way I can change the build?

Yah, the build is wrong and short of buying the game you can't legally get the correct version now. However, if you are able to login then all it not lost. The emu only comes with one NPC in the database right now and you have to manually spawn him using the /spawn command. There is a database team working on getting spawns right now and eventually we will have all the zones populated, but the emu isn't there yet. Remember that this is an Alpha release still and if anything works at all consider yourself lucky :)

thanks for the quick response! :D I just bought Rise of Kunark box set today and will probably install it tomorrow. That should have the correct build? And i should use the /spawn command?

Yes, that will be version 4412 and is one of the supported versions. The /spawn command allows you to spawn as many NPCs and Objects as you choose.

Why can't you use the spawn command or target anything?

Not really, right now since we are just starting it is up to the server owner to spawn the mobs themselves. You can spawn a NPC with a different race_type by changing the parameters that you use with the /spawn command.
