Sony Offline Entertainment - Refugees

Post by John Adams » Mon May 09, 2011 4:28 pm

"Cross over, children. All are welcome. All are welcome. Go into the light!"

So, Sony biffed it with their database getting hacked. For some reason, this means none of the paying subscribers can play, either. Weird, if they can't be billed, guess no one can play? Who knows. All I DO know is, all of a sudden, EQ2Emulator.net got a jump in registrations and our Recent Server list went from a dull 3 to 11.

I'm going to use this opportunity to beg y'all to stick around ;) TessEQ2 has content, though it is old and outdated. Maybe if we could sucker, I mean, sweet talk a good dozen or more of you to play on her consistently, we might make some progress shaking out the group/guild bugs.

It's been a long time since Tess serviced a dozen or more players. Put her to work!

I had just entered a 30 day time card for eq2 when their SOE service was taken down... I'm more than likely going to never see those 30 days ever again or be compensated....

I want to help populate the eq2emu world as much as I can. Anything that I am capable of helping with, I'll do. But I can't seem to get on our servers at the moment. I'm "being prohibited from playing due to an unknown error" and being told to "try again later" as the game tells me.

It does look like you got in fine and zoned to at least 3 zones. Tho I do see multiple attempts just to get started. There's not much we can do about the latency/issues between our servers and your home. Our LoginServer and GameServer were not reset, so perhaps whatever was causing the issue cleared up? Dunno.

We're adding additional logging to the World, so maybe someday we'll see more of where things are hanging up.

OH yeah.. I forgot about that. I was able to log in to that server and zone from ant to qc and then to that splitpaw zone just to see how well the zoning was working. But after that I got those errors that didn't let me 'connect'.

Man I could use a real eq2 fix right about now..Sony really dropped the ball. But I suppose i can settle back into my private eq2 server and make it a big guild hall, lol :P

Well I just found out the official servers are back up (I wasn't paying attention) and saw that they reactivated my accounts with 45 days free even though I haven't played in a long time. I also got some other games free which I only played as a trial.

Hmm, maybe I should try my non-EQ2X client then.

Yup they're back up. I still had a sub running that apparently ends 5/25, then their free 45 days kicks in for me.
