Re: EQ2EmuPatch Utility
I seem to have typed the wrong version in my last post. It's actually 6710. I think I just crashed the eq2emu realm by trying to connect on it. I just patched down to 6118 and well..the servers are all down still....Zcoretri wrote:I would leave it as is, just unzip it and modify your eq2_recent.ini for the login server and GOChrisworld wrote:Now that I think about it, I have a client packed in a 7-zip archive on my secondary HDD. It's client 6170L.
When I have a moment, I'm going to unpack a copy from it's deep sleep and attempt to down patch it to 6118.
I'll post results.
I need a good working client, the ONLY one I have that can connect to eq2emulator.net and my private one on your 1.2 repack, John, is client 6122 with the Will of a Tyrant load up screen. Normally i'd be ok with this, buy my stupid ass somehow managed to screw the client up and then backed up the screwed up client over my previous backup, so i'm stuck with a half-assed working client....it should connect
I backed up my 6710 exe in case its a coincidence ......

Yeah, it's not you. Tess crashed majorly. Oddly, she's reporting 1046 is the wrong version, so I will replace my opcodes table and you can try again. 1046 should at least let you log in fully.

Re: EQ2EmuPatch Utility
It should not crash it, no. Doesn't mean it didn't have something to do with it
But, it's coming back online now. Give your 6710 another try.

Oh...yeah, 6710 will be a little out of range. I don't know how many more builds above 6563 stayed data version 1046.Chrisworld wrote:

Re: EQ2EmuPatch Utility
I was able to log in and I was in Splitpaw5.vpk.
Now I can't zone, everything goes black. I'll give another attempt, if it continues to not work I'll down it to 6118 and try. I just wanna make sure I have a fully healthy working client so I can be of help where it is needed, you know?
What I went to try and do was zone to Queen's but it was blacked out so i tried antonica, no luck still.

Re: EQ2EmuPatch Utility
Now that I've seen the same thing, I am sure it's because Zcoretri hasn't finished every struct/opcode for these new version ranges. He'll get to it. I see the same thing locally on an SF client, so it's not just you.

Re: EQ2EmuPatch Utility
Well it was nice meeting you in-game, John.
The downgrade to 6118 was a success, and the zoning is smoother than live! Haha.
Not to mention the placeholder icons are now gone.
Looks like I found a winning game client.

Re: EQ2EmuPatch Utility
Thought i'd post another interesting tidbit of trivia. The 6118 patched exe can't connect to Server pack 1.2 so I actually used the 6122 exe on this fresh client and I can connect to the 1.2 repack private server. I've made 3 archives with 7zip.. remember my client was messed up but the 6122 exe is fine and salvagable. I kept the will of a tyrant load up screen too lol. Perhaps I'll make custom archives for 6118 and 6122 to replace the load up screens for the proper versions when I unpack them, haha.
everquest2.exe.6710.7z (original)
everquest2.exe.6118.7z
everquest2.exe.6122.7z
I just unpack for the compatibility i need and it seems to be good to go now, lol!

Re: EQ2EmuPatch Utility
The 6118L (full) client works fine on ServerPack 1.2. And, it's pretty much all the same code in the server pack as you see getting to Tess (Login, World). Not sure of the details why you say 6118L doesn't work for ServerPack. It's what I use, daily. In both ServerPack 1.2 and our current Test worlds.

Re: EQ2EmuPatch Utility
There's no way to patch up the original 2004 box client, is there?
I have purchased all of the expansions online except for the initial release of the game, as I imagine a lot of other folks have as well and I really don't want to find a box version of TSO or similar just for this in a store.

Re: EQ2EmuPatch Utility
Unfortunately, you have no other option but to feed the fatted SOE calf on this. It's how we keep them in business
While we just recently started playing with simple Everquest2.exe patching, it is in no way meant to circumvent the purchase of a compatible client.
That said, ROK, TSO and even SF "Box Sets" are anywhere from $5 online. Seems a small price to pay to experience the otherwise FREE world of EQ2 Emulation.
