Free EQ2 for 45 days

Post by jasonmicron » Fri May 27, 2011 5:58 am

Hey folks, just thought I'd pass along this nugget of information. If you haven't heard, SOE is giving away 45 days free to their services since they were compromised. This includes inactive accounts as well. The 45 days starts from the moment you reset your SOE password.

I knew they were offering stuff to current subscribers but was pretty much blown away when they said it was for any account, current or former, in good standing.

Just thought I'd share. ;) Could be a good opportunity to do some content data gathering for a few areas (TS / CL / ANT / etc)

Already been posted here. It's recommended to search first here cause stuff usually gets posted without notice.

We actually have *LOTS* more data than you see in Tess. 200 zones worth, easy. The reason nothing else is on Tess (Test Center) is because we used the first 10 levels of the game to build a server... content was secondary. As we added content, server functionality was needed, and added. Now, we are starting our database and scripting from scratch, since we a) know wtf we're doing now and b) most of the server functionality for content placement is in place.

Sure there will be a ton more content-driven server code added later, but for right now, server is getting 90% of our attention.

What I should do is put a server up with all of our content on it, and ask you guys to "evaluate" as a community, how complete it is. Then we could actually move forward with some zone building.

That is an amazing idea for a footnote, one might argue it's almost update worthy!

I knew a majority of the content, so this would actually give me a task to start testing your server hard :)

I even know a fair amount of NPC Placement, and quests (but realistically you could get alot of this information from other sources).

Just saying that this would give me something to help out with :)
