Fatal Error

Post by chortie » Sat Sep 17, 2011 5:31 am

hello, I have been trying to play eq2 emu for a few days now. so let me start by saying I run on Vista and my live eq2 works fine. and my box sets are eq2 orig, EoF ( echoes of Faydwar) and SF.
So i have 4 eq2 installs, i have live, original,EoF,SF. I installed SF first, changed the client address, and ran the everquest2.exe, got a client error, and it shut down, so i tried the eq2emu patcher, using all the builds listed and the error is. Fatal Error Excepion Handler Reentered.
so tried the orig, and eof and both had same error come up at log in with wrong build.
I do not have RoK i bought the digital download for that expantion.
any ideas on how to fix the errors for SF with the box sets i already have.

thank you

Thank you for the detailed information.

If you install the SF "Box Set", the client version (listed in the windows title bar) should be 6120. That one will not work with our servers because it was a pre-release pressing of the DVDs. Using the EQ2ClientPatcher tool, you should select the 6118L version, as that is the last client we got working before SF DVDs were pressed.

Many, including myself, use 6118L patched this way, and it works fine. There may be other circumstances at work preventing your access. Try making characters on ALL public servers, to eliminate the case where 1 server might just be crashed right now.

Also, if you can post the contents of the following files in your Everquest II directory:

Code: Select all

alertlog.txt
crashlog.txt
verifylog.txt
It might help us narrow down something specific.

Still getting the same error. I have bought RoK box for $5.00. i thought that was a rather good deal.
Installed 2 copys on my hard drive, " did not patch "
changed both copys ini files
and ran everquest2.exe from the folder.
and it crashes with in 5 sec.
I am sure there is something wrong on my side. i am missing a file or something.
But i can play eqlive, eqemu, eq2live, but not eq2emu, as i stated before my box sets are.
eq2 orig.. will get to log in screen but says wrong client.
EoF.. will get to log in screen and say wrong client.
SF reg edition and collectors.. error with in 5 sec of opening everquest2.exe
RoK.. error with in 5 sec of opening everquest2.exe.

in a past post John asked for 3 log files, there is only 1 log file that has been created and its EQ2_crash.txt
i posted what my sf log said, this is the crash log from RoK.

Not positive on ROK but it may not work i know SF Collectors Edition works since i just installed it again today at work and after i used the eq2emupatcher to back it down from 6120 to 6118L i was able to log in just fine.
Here is a screenshot of my SF Collectors Edition directory is your everquest2.exe the exact same size? I also looked at your error log which is not telling much compaired to what it should have. :(

Since you are using ROK box, you might try downloading and running the ServerPack 1.2 and connecting locally with that.

If this one does not work with ROK client, then yes, it is you :)

Keep the reports coming though, in case it isn't. We can try and identify the problem for others either way.
