Hello EQ2Emu community! I look forward to becoming a contributing member as I've always been a fan of EQ2 and had played for 5+ years from DoF all the way to Sentinel's Fate. Sometime before, or soon after SOE was breached my 2 accounts had been purged of their database, apparently due to inactivity. Most of those characters having top end raid gear of the time. Anyone worth their salt in EQ2 will tell you that it takes many hours of raiding to complete raid sets and collect avatar gear for even a single character. This was ultimately when I decided that I wanted to be in control of my own server. Before getting into the emu scene I played a few other MMO's such as Aion and Age of Conan, neither of which held my interest nearly as long as EQ2 had. Both were extremely good MMO's imo with positives and negatives but that is beyond the scope of this post and I ended up leaving them both to pursue programming and reversing. My programming background is in Java, so C++ and Lua will be something new for me and what better way to learn then developing an EQ2 emulator. I know that Java syntax is similar to C++ so I'm hoping to pick up on it quickly. I am also somewhat familiar with SQL, HTML and XML.

I have a lot of experience in EQ2 not only in end game raid mechanics but general solo and group content as well, along with PvP experience. I was an avid quester and had to have everything complete even collections, so I am familiar with that as well. My intention is to learn and help contribute to making EQ2Emulator the successful and quality emulator that it has become thus far; all while getting some programming experience with a project of this scale. It is also nice to surround one's self with like-minded people and seasoned programmers/developers who can offer up a bit of advice.

Welcome aboard, Tilt. It was nice chatting with you last night, even if my time was short. We're usually around more in force on the weekends, so you can usually catch us on IRC.

Take a look through our [extensive] Development forums, and if anything catches your eye, jump in. Best thing to do is get a hold of the current dev code (SVN), get your VS2010 environment set up, and start looking through the code, along with the posts here, you should get a good idea where we are - if you have an understanding of development.

We run a very relaxed ship here (except when I get my knickers in a twist when something isn't happening ;)) so no pressure to do anything right away. Teaching new people how Emu works takes a lot of our time, time which we do not have to spare. So hopefully you can pick up on things quickly yourself. If not, ask questions. And be patient ;)

Thanks for hanging out.
