Playable Mob Server Idea
Eventually when the emu has progressed further along I would like to add in the ability to play the whole game from 1-80 as a normally non-playable character. For instance, starting in Blackburrow as a Gnoll and leveling up against npcs from Qeynos as well as the other mobs around Antonica. Maybe allow all the major races (PC and NPC alike) their own starting city and have configurable options for which factions are at war and which ones are at peace. Maybe even adding in pvp against players of the opposing factions. The spawns will have to be heavily modified to balance it all out, but I think it will make the game far more interesting and show the true benefits of the emu - not just a crappy knockoff but a unique fun experience. Obviously this will take a considerable effort and it wont happen anytime soon as we need to get the regular game working first, but I think this could really be a lot of fun. What do you guys think?

You'd have to deal with not being able to wear different armors etc.. Plus, the models would have to be loaded globally. It might be pretty difficult to pull off and would definitely be limited in scope. I'm not sure it's worth the effort. If a private server wants it, I think more power to them if they want to spend the time to include it, but I'd never make it a project priority.

All the models ARE loaded globally. This isn't EQ1 with different models for each zone.luceri wrote:You'd have to deal with not being able to wear different armors etc.. Umm, yeah, it would. Kinda the whole point. Custom content is a big favorite amongst people. Why not be completly custom. There will be some people that may say no, but alot of people wouldnt mind jumping in to a more so "parallel universe".link2009 wrote:Wouldn't this idea conflict with the entire aspect which is EverQuest 2?We can give it a try.
Imagine, Gnolls are the dominate species on Qeynos side, and Orcs on Freeport side. Create a back story, and give them control over the cities. Humans are the cattle of the plains, and they have small home citys too. You can apply all the same skill sets to them as you would to humans. The only catch would be armour modeling.
Personally, I think it would be a amazing Idea that would drive a great server.

Some armor skin can be apply on a monster but the best choice is to not set display ID of item so your player can wear item but skin not appeartechguy84 wrote: The only catch would be armour modeling.
Fight with me... Or die, like the rest.
