This is just a short video (about a minute) showing off some spell effects and gestures in eq2emu. Seems that unlike EQ1, server owners will be able to make use of any visual effect whenever they wish unlike EQ1 which was restricted to spells.

Heh, that was actually half enjoyable
.
For custom animations / models we'll need to work hard to understand the structure and file types used.
I'm still a bit rusty on my 3D modeling skills but from the looks of it, I could come up with a few sprites / animations to test out the new system.
Good job, I'm liking it more and more.

Ok, with the custom spells/skills, and this, I must ask. Is it EQ2 that is allowing all this customization, or is it just the extra effort put forth by the devs of the project that is makeing this stuff possible. It seems like things like this could be done without, or skipped, but you guys are adding in the abilities for uber customization beyond the realsms of what this could be.
Dont get me wrong on that last part, Im not complain'n. I think its amazing that you guys are digging in real deep and making things work that could just be left out. Its a awesome time for EQ2 people indeed. WOOT!!

In an emulator you have to decipher every packet individually and sometimes it is just built with functionality to be diverse. So yea, we want allow as much customization as possible, but not at the expense of the functionality in the 'live' version of the game.techguy84 wrote:Ok, with the custom spells/skills, and this, I must ask.
