Re: Wizardry Online beta
I don't think I'd enjoy a wizardry mmo.
I was a huge fan of the series while it was owned by Sirtech. I loved all those old school CRPG's
Yah, I just went hipster with crpg ;p
I liked the puzzle aspects the most in the wizardry games. I honestly don't see how they could transfer those puzzle and riddle aspects to a mmo. If they even tried you'd just end up with more experienced players rushing the newer players through puzzles / riddles / objectives just to farm endgame bosses or armor.
It would completely destroy the appeal of the wizardry universe for me.
I think it would be cool if they released a wizardry game with modern graphics but kept the old school game style like the recruitable npc's and 8 man parties for single player. I doubt it will ever happen from a big game company.
I have seen some promising looking games on indiegogo and kickstarter though.
here is one crpg I'm looking forward too. Made by one of the dev's who worked on wizardry 7.
Comes out in May

It has one of the greatest pitch videos I've seen in a while lol.

I downloaded it. Eventually I was able to play it after a few days of it not letting me log in. Horrible , it looks like it was made by someone still learning how to create games lol.

Re: Wizardry Online beta
yah, Wizardry online looks like they took the PS2 version of the Wizardry games and turned it into a mmo.
Not a big fan of the cartoon graphics but that isn't a deal breaker in any game for me. If the game is fun that's what matters.
I'm also leery of anything released by SoE. They have a horrible track record with game releases and game development / server management once a game is released.
Of course I would love for the game to be a huge success. Anything that might lead to more wizardry games would be awesome. So I'm going to be watching Wizardry Online and hoping for the best even though I have little faith in the concept of a wizardry mmo and in the company developing the game.
