Was curious what the bandwidth usage for EQ2 looks like. I have not been able to find a good answer with facts behind it from google.
Min: sitting still in an unpopulated zone
Max: maximum bandwidth seen even if its just a short spike
Average: Normal play doing things like leveling or crafting.
I figured I would ask here. Have been following this project for years and know that you all know your stuff! If its not an easy answer don't kill yourself over it.
Thanks again

Re: Bandwidth for EQ2
I doubt the game requires a whole lot of bandwidth.
Even with my crappy internet I wouldn't lag when I logged onto the retail server using the F2P client that tries to download 14 GB every time you log on (such a retarded system, it made me stop playing retail)
Are you using some sort of non-broadband internet set up? Most games I've played didn't require a whole lot of bandwidth but the biggest issue you could run into would be with ping
One thing I think could help you understand the difference, I tried satellite internet one time because it was a special "deal" with my television and it had a ton of bandwidth, but the ping was so bad. There would be Like a 2 or 3 second delay (2000 or 3000 ms) when playing online games. I could still download gigabytes of data in a day but for games it was horrible. That got canceled immediately lol.
High bandwidth is fine if you are just going to download a bunch of content like movies/tv shows and "reaction time" doesn't matter. Online games are mostly about how fast the commands go back and forth and not as much about downloading massive chunks of data (unless you are using that retarded FTP client!!).
Even if too many character models give your computer a headache, there are options to limit the amount that appear on your screen.
Here is a decent guide on adjusting settings in EQ2.

Re: Bandwidth for EQ2
I wanted to know just for informational purposes. I am not on a bandwidth restriction.
I am working on project in Unity and am using Photon Server. I was having a chat with a team member and we were wondering what the bandwidth usage of other games/types are like.
Later that day I did some checking of my own.
Login Screen: Less than 200bytes up/down per second
Idle in Freeport: 1-2kbs up/down spikes. Sometimes below that.
