New client

Post by Criimson » Sun Jan 27, 2013 12:00 pm

So I am thinking my problems stem from my client.
Unsure why, as I have TSO boxed, but whatever. I will be calling around today for a client in Seattle area. Should i go dov for best long term compatibility or SF?

If it's a choice between DoV and SF then dov...however the current live client is partially compatible and should be fully in the near future so keep this in mind.

Ah ok. Well Ill patch to live.

Anyone have an Everquest.exe that i can have to use with my current TSO install? Or a suggestion on how i can get it to work. My internet is slow so will take a bit to fully patch to live. I live in the boonies and get internet through my phone.

Thanks for the info.

Ok the patcher worked well. I was using it wrong before.
The problem I have now stems from too many options I think.
I have downloaded:
MiniLogin :
EQ2Minilogin_1.02.zip
MiniLogin.exe from the dev trunk
2 versions of mini Login DB - one from SVN and one from inside the zip

World Server:
DB from milestone 1 (iirc) dated 2010 and another from the SVN EQ2DBProject_Current.tar.gz
And 3 World Server exes 0.65.5, 0.7.1, and 0.7.2-dev

It seems that each of the worldserver.exes does different stuff to the db when connecting to update db.

So before I go any further. Should which DBs and exes should I use?
I see that the online server is at 0.7.2-dev but which initial DB for the world server and login server should I use.

Thank you

I personally started with the server pack and added the new .exes and structs from the svn then updated so that I started with a base DB. The current world exe from the svn trunk works fine, the minilogin seems buggy for me but I have an older version that still works (you only need this if the current one doesn't work right for you). You can get the link for it from this page: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=3348

If you get opcode errors resulting in a crash after you get everything updated and such run the query I listed on that page as well

Thank you Foof

I sourced the DB from the pack into my sql service (the db sqls are included in the pack) and am using those exes to run the server. Worked perfectly.

Now my next question (sort of question).
I would like to help work on a eq2 live like DB for the community here and have noticed that the zone I am in (Greater Fay) seems populated like live, but the loot tables seem to be temporary in nature; based on what is dropping. Are there plans for a major overhaul to loot tables or should I just start creating them live like and post the changes that I do.
I am willing to go newbie zone to newbie zone making all of the MoBs tables. Seems like a good place to start.

Any ideas
