In several quests that require gathering items from groundspawns, the expected item is not obtained.
E.G.- in Timorous Deep, the quest "Curious Ore" [2] requires a player to Gather (skill checked is Mining) 4x 'curious ore' items from the nearby 'curious ore' game objects (ground spawn containers); instead of procuring the curious ores, the items which appear in inventory are [Congealed Blood Sphere]s
E.G.- also in TD, the quest 'Fish of the Chrykori Island' [3] requires a player to Gather (Fishing) 4x 'Chrykori saltfin' items from the various 'school of saltfin' game objects; instead of fishing up the Chrykori saltfins however, one corrals instead [blessed salt] items
There were similar issues, discovered within Queen's Colony and Darklight Wood, since the wipe a few weeks ago. The item ID's were correct then, though in the case of the fishing quest (separately reported bug here), the quest log would not tally the correct items.
O/S is Win Vista Home Prem, Client is patched up DoV, server is ofc 0.7.2-dev
Guessing this is just a database issue; a truncated integer, a column offset, or something.

If John is using the recently done items I wouldn't be surprised if the item id's are off for quest items and the like.

Re: Quest Items point to wrong ID#
When we recollected all the items in EQ2 from live a little while back some of the item id's changed. I remember looking at that quest not to long ago and yes the item id has changed for that quest.

This is because of a new items DB, all my time on here is going towards building Frostfang Sea right now. Everything will get fixed for any zones we address in milestone 2 for content.
Quest scripts involving an item look for when you receive a certain item id, and update. Groundspawn ids are assigned to quest harvest nodes and then in the groundspawn_items table items are assigned to those groundspawn ids. So basically the groundspawns aren't giving correct items and some quest scripts weren't up to date before so you still won't be able to do those without them being updated as well.
Feel free to fix anything locally of course, for groundspawns (such as the chyk fish and curious ore) you can go to the groundspawn_items table and change the item ids for the groundspawns to pass out. You'll also need to update quest scripts to use the new items. Check out quest script syntax in the Script Development forum for more info on that.
