Download the Server Pack and tell it to patch from the live Patcher (admin guide included) and you're all set

(sorry for necro'ing this post but i plan on making a necromancer so I'm practicing.)

Iv also got the fever for some EQ2! Had a server going away back in the day but failed to take notes on what i did and what my accounts were so I'm starting again from scratch.

I do have a boxed copy from when the game launched like a million years ago so I'm guessing that is useless so i grabbed the full install from the EQ2 site and downloaded it. As it stands now, the build number seems to be rather high (11042L) So my first question would be, will this work? I did note the wiki said live was supported as the game was "free" to play now, but that was last year and there doesn't seem, to be a latest working build number that i can see.

Second question would be, is there a guide. Now yes there's guides, I'm not a carrot, but is there any current guides? guides that will help me from step one to stepping around my server with a crude iron kettle on my head.

Iv had a number of private servers for many different mmo's but EQ2 was by far my most fun game to play. watching the project status every few months was practically porn to me haha. but now i wanna suit up and get back in if you pardon the pun.

Plus i cant be the only person with a live client looking to get a server going.

Ill go look for more guides and or info i may need and download mysql (if that's still needed?) while i await a reply.

Sadly our guides have fallen behind. With such a small dev team none of us have really found the time to update them. It is on my todo list but was a low priority, maybe I should find some time to update the important ones. We also just had a new member log in with a live client but from then to now SOE must have snuck in another update that we haven't updated for, shouldn't be long before we get it though.
