if it were you doing it. since you have the know how and such. how long do you reckon it would take you alone? to do it. if you had the desire to.

From scratch likely months. However: if you can wait until we already have content through level 50 completed and released you could go in and change spawns and such that shouldn't be there add back other spawns ect and that would be perfectly achievable. Let me just say you aren't alone in wanting this so others will come around and try to do the same thing once we get it workable.

Summary: wait awhile and see what happens with the project then decide.

Yea old post, but I'll throw my 2cents in anyway. Wife and I had a blast playing EQ on our own server with complete access to nearly every detail of the game. We were develops, GMs, and players using http://wiki.eqemulator.org/p?Complete_W ... e&frm=Main. That one is not for the faint of heart. A somewhat steep learning curve but totally doable by a novice with a ton of patience.

But the real fun began when we found http://www.axclassic.com/. A one click install that does all the work for you, AND you get the bonus of BOTS (computer controlled players/group or raid members). You control your own server from the comfort of your home and even have BOTS to help ya group and raid. You set all the rules, speed of leveling, weapons drops, EVERYTHING. Its a great time killer while waiting for these projects to finish!

(Mods: hope I was allowed to post those links. If not I apologize).

I have no issue with eqemulator links, hell most of us are over there just not devs. John has made a server pack that installs every thing required to run a server and all the content we had at the time of the server pack being made. I would also love to have BOTS here but being a custom feature that is way down on the list of todo's for now. We also have a rules system to hopefully adjust everything you mentioned, just need to be expanded on currently, but we will be there some day.

My wife and I are Freshman in college attempting to get our computer science degree. Yea, no help to the project now, but hopefully by the time we are Juniors we might be able to assist the project in a meaningful way.

Not to brag (but bragging anyway), the first-ever EQemulator "repack" was made by me, back in 2007. It was frowned on by the old-school eqemulator community. That serverpack for EQ is the foundation of my serverpack for EQ2 (I got the original idea from WoW serverpacks anyway - I'm all about the turn-key solutions).

After I quit EQEmu to work on EQ2Emu, Leslemarch picked up updating my repack for quite a while, until you see the modern ones of today - namely, AXClassic. AX just did it right. Happy to see it still exists.
