expecting of players to come
Hello world,
I was a little bit confused with that i found no players in EQ2Emulator serveur, however they should be there, at least the game appears to be fully playable by now...
So I am expecting of newcomers to share an adventure, this is not the same as a pretty castrated faked 'f2p' issue from soe lol - you know what i am about:)
Cheers,

Re: expecting of players to come
Thanks, and welcome
Our Content has been fairly stagnant the last few years while we primarily worked on server features, but 2013 is when we're going to attempt to rebuild our DB fully and get more content for players to experience.
I myself cannot understand why our community isn't more active - but that's always been the case. I assumed no one liked the Everquest 2 game? We'll just keep going at it, regardless

I want to participate. I would adventure with you. I just need to get connected with the proper client and all. I am working on that this evening.

=whispers= His post is a year old..... However, I do agree with the surprise at the lack of community. : [ I would also like to see this community thrive. I think I knew of this long ago and randomly decided to look it up again today and look what I have found. I shall perhaps join with folks looking to adventure again. : ]

I wish I knew what we could do to get an active community, sadly the answer is probably content and while that is our main focus right now this game is so massive that it takes a long time with the few people we have. I am always open to suggestions but also keep in mind EQ2 is still an active game so we do need to be careful of legal issues.DeadManLaughing wrote:However, I do agree with the surprise at the lack of community. : [ I would also like to see this community thrive.

I hope so, I am always willing to teach people how to do content, and I am sure Cynnar would be willing to help as well. Any one that is willing to help just needs to contact one of us and we can get them started.
Just a reminder for those who read this, no programming knowledge is required to work on content. While there is scripting there is also a lot of other tasks that need to be worked on.

It would be great to get some guys and gals on the team. It is great hands on experience, and has been fun working on this project. Plus I got to meet some really nice folks here.

Re: expecting of players to come
I'm waiting for EQ2 Classic, it was the best grouping experience of any MMO...... but it had it's issues and SOE have never made good on any MMO they've made. It would be really exciting if an Emu could bring that old game to life and fix the issues it had, though that would require massive changes and I doubt it would ever be possible.
I wish I got into programming as a kid, but sadly I didn't and now the time is too late. I wish you guys luck though, no idea how you do it, wish I could help, but I can't.

Re: expecting of players to come
Great thing about an emulator is almost anything is possible. It would be possible to recreate the classic game, difficult but possible. Despite what daybreak is claiming it is more then possible to have the islands back and the old class system, our main problem is our small team and therefore we focus on matching live as it is quicker to develop for us.
It is never to late to learn but even if you don't want to learn programing there is always content dev which has tasks that is zero programing and just working off of a web editor and in game.

Just what I was going to say. I just told Plague that I thought I needed to learn to program to contribute to the project other than testing. Joined the project with very little C++ knowledge and found that I didn't need it to populate a zone.Jabantiz wrote:It is never to late to learn but even if you don't want to learn programing there is always content dev which has tasks that is zero programing and just working off of a web editor and in game.
One thing I found here is Jabantiz encouraged me to as questions on things I didn't know or understand. That is awesome because it removed the fear of messing things up. I could simply ask before I done something. I will also do the same, and if I do not know I will ask Jab.

Re: expecting of players to come
The true psychology behind "I don't have no programming skillz or I'd help" really means "I'll wait for you to do all the work so I can play". Anyone can learn, anything... if they want to. Not learning means they don't want to, simple as that.
Cynnar is a shining example of "motivated". He has done more for this project than most have, ever, aside from the devs. And, he's never burned out or quit. If only we had a dozen Cynnars
I also see Plague is dominating the forums, learning. Bravo to both.
