EQ2 Editors - Spell Editor

Post by Jabantiz » Sun May 13, 2012 11:12 pm

This is the editor I have been working on off and on for a while now. The final goal is for it to be able to do everything (spells/items/spawns/merchants/traits and so on) but for right now it is just the spell editor. If you set up MySQL (Options->Settings) you can load spells from the DB as well as load required info for spells (skills). The icon selector limits the icons you see based off of how it is opened (you won't see item icons when searching for spell icons), if you just want to look at icons you can open it through Tools->Icon Selector. When searching for spell animations it uses the file spellcast.dat (from the vpl) so it can just be replaced with a newer or older version, however all animation movies (all 4 or so right now) are based off of the DoV client.

The search window (and most other windows) still need work, some where just thrown together but the functionality should be there. This will not insert into the db yet, haven't had the time to test it properly and don't want to mess up any one else's db, it will give you a pop up with the sql to insert it though (should be right some one better at sql might want to check over it), but use it at your own risk.

This was made with the MySQL .NET Connector 6.4.4 (will probably replace that later) and will probably require windows media player.

You can download it from my folder in the tools SVN.

PS - Special thanks to Zcoretri for helping me figure out some mysql .net connector issues

EDIT: changed the link from mediafire to the svn folder

Feel free to use the eq2tools SVN, Jabantiz. That's what it's there for.

I'll take a look after I return home next week.

I wasn't gonna release the source yet, made a huge mess of it when I got frustrated with a problem, so didn't think putting just binaries up would be ok, if it is then that will be a lot better then mediafire. And hopefully I will have a better version out by the end of the weekend.

Yeah, whatever you want there can be there. Make a folder for your name, and the product, or bin or whatever you want to call it. You can always add the source later if you choose.

Just trying to make things easier for everyone :)

Made a lot of bugfixes and cleaned up code, It will now insert into the DB, many values had their type changed to match what it should be and entries are verified when the control looses focus now so you don't get an error when typing in a '.' for float values (except icons, as they are int they are still checked as you type so the pictures auto update as you type). If you don't want it to insert into the db then just don't set up the mysql connection, or if you have than delete the Settings.xml file the program creates and you will get a pop up with the sql for the spell you just made. If you don't set up MySQL then the skills combo boxes will not populate and you can't load spells.

I also added more animation movies for spells (up to id 70) wich is over 100mb itself.

EDIT: Removed mediafire link as the svn link in the first post will have the newer versions now

3 years later and I finally added something to this.

You can now edit heroic op's in this editor, when you load one the names listed are based off the spells it can trigger.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

That's awesome Jab. Wish someone would write some VGO tools instead of just talking about how crappy mine are ;)
