Client Check

Post by prestanneth » Tue Aug 18, 2015 7:37 am

Hi,
Just trying to get this up and running as not happy with the path eq's taken over the years i wished to have a look at this project. i was rather happy to find this site to say the least :P

i started out using the serverpack, connected to the online update which updated DB etc and removed some errors i was seeing previously in logging windows (world server).
(also copied opcodes across to loginserver db trying to resolve below issue)

using a local loginserver, and also the online one, i get what appears to be a client server mismatch(SendLoginDenied) using a client 12124L Aug 12th 2015

( Noticed a post underneath from secrets where it appeared a live client was now working, but i think that was a previous july-ish build going by post date.
Not sure if that meant all prior should also work, or just a few specific versions/builds, as i also copied an older pcs client across which hadn't been updated for 6 months but get same error:: client version of that one is 11654L Jan 13th 2015 build

I'd start digging with ida but maybe reinventing the wheel. (someones going to tell me there's a pun in their somewhere writing that on an emu forum.)

Any advice appreciated.

Welcome to the forums.

It looks like your client is to new, every time there is a patch on live there is usually a data version change and we need to update opcodes, if we are lucky it is simply changing the version_range2 from the latest opcodes to the new data version, worse case we need to duplicate the last opcode range for the new data version and modify the values of some.

We can only make certain ranges work as the data version is constantly changing, twice a week now, so we only get around to updating it when there is a demand for it which there hasn't been for a little, one of us will get to it soon.

Today's client (12133L Aug 17, 2015) should be able to connect to the emu server now, was just bumping version_range2. This is just an opcode update I haven't gone through the structs so you will be able to get into the world but there will be some errors, most obvious is the character sheet which causes the spell icons to show wrong in the maintained window.

Check the wiki, it is the most up to date. Basically either use the launcher tool or change the eq2_default.ini login address to point to the emu server and run everquest2.exe
