Site and Forum Rules

Post by techguy84 » Wed Jul 25, 2007 11:01 pm

Lethal has requested that we try to maintain a somewhat censored PG-13 rating on the boards here. This means that we can still have fun and be a great community, but we dont want to take post too far into Adult detail. Most of you, like myself, have seen exactly what we are looking at as far as the types of posting go. Thanks in advance for this guys and gals!

These are of course rules that you as a member need to know and abide by while you are on this site. These are in place for your benefit so please follow them.

Warez and other Illegal File Methods
We do not support software piracy here. This goes for any content is not provided by this site (Eq2Emulator.net). You may not ask for, provide, or support illegal file activites, which means dont request Game files of any nature. Users are at thier own discretion on how they obtain their files, but it is to not be brought up here on this site. This also goes for asking about "Back Patching".

Consequences to any infraction on this will result in a immediate ban.

Forum Behavior
We are all aware of the word "Etiquette", and what it means. When your here, your expected to be repesctful to your fellow members and the staff of this site. Here are some simple things to think about before you make a post.

Flamming - Flamming is when a member goes out of his/her way to make a uncontrustive critising post to another memeber. If a argument arises, please keep it in PM's and out of public view. Settle matters as civilized as possible.
Trolling - Trolling can be defined as someone more or less starting controversy with a post for no other reason then to cause chaos. This is certainly not tolerated here so dont do it.
Spamming - If you use the internet, you know what Spam is. Anything that does not pertain to this site, this project or to Everquest 2 that is posted on here for the simple reason of advertisment will get deleted and the memeber will receive a warning. If this is suspected to be a bot, that member will be banned.
Topic Derailing - While this can happen without true intentions of it, please try to refrain from taking a topic completly off its original concept. If this is done delibrately, the post with the de-railment will be deleted and the member will receive a warning.
Word Usage - The following is a list of things you should not use when making your posts.
- Racial Slurs
- Racial comments
- Cursing - Extreme usage applies. If used to exemplify a statment, dont go overboard. Use good judgment in your posting.
- Sexist Comments or Slurs
- Sexual Preferencence Slurs - Ones preferences are not there for derogtory comments.
- And other demeaning and useless things. Dont bash people for any reason.
Scripting/Botting Do NOT use any automated scripting to continually hit this site for updates. These forums have Subscriptions which you can use to keep yourself informed when an update occurs in the topic(s) of your choice. Seeing a user persistently logged in for 4 weeks at a time will result in warnings, then a ban for 1 week. Further abuse will result in a permanent ban from the site. The bandwidth is not YOURS to do what you want with... just remember that.

Images and Signatures
Large signatures or images may not only be distracting and unnecessary, they may also break the forums on some browsers (as of this writing). Generally speaking, keep your images and signatures below around 400 pixels in width.
In addition, all images should be kept "work safe." This means no pornography or otherwise disturbing images should be directly posted in any forums, including off-topic.

Signatures are not a place for advertising anything that is not EQ2Emulator related. This means you can have a link to you server website, discord server, your GitHub source, or anything else related to your server. Anything else is not tolerated and users will be banned.

If your signature or image is deemed too large or otherwise inappropriate, it may be removed or changed to a link.

Naming Policies
This applies to LoginServer Accounts, Fourm Accounts, Server Names, ect... When you use this project, you are a member that represents this project. Members with the name "BigTestacles" or "IhateFgts" are not tolerated. The same goes for Server Names, as these are visble to anyone connecting to the project to play. If your server is so neatly name "Come Play with my Big @#$$" expect your account, forum name, and IP address to be banned. Use sense when making names as the Word Usage from above also applies to this here.

Moderators & Admins
These people are here for you. We are here to help point you in the right direction, keep you from going in the wrong direction, and make sure there is no crap on your way there. If there is a issue in the forums that require a Moderators attention, click on one of our names below that boards title and PM us.
Also, Moderators are appointed for a reason, and that is that they have been intrusted with handling the matters here on the forums. We have to make judgment calls on everything we see that could be considered in viloation of these very rules. If we choose to take appropriate action to a situation, that is what we deemed to do and thats that. Not to be taken lightly though, sometimes Moderaters can be wrong in our decisions, at which time the problem will be evaluated and decided upon accordingly.

Chain of command is simple to understand also: Members -> Moderators -> Administators

If you feel that you must go to a higher level to sort out a problem, do so with confidence. If you belive a Moderator is wrong, contact a site Admin regarding this and allow them to handle the problem. Dont do anything that can put yourself in a guilty posistion.

Conclusion
These rules are of course only a small part of the general rule set you must follow while here. I only covered the most basic stuff that each member should know before posting. These rule at any time can be mended and changed without prior notice to the members. It is recommended that you check back to make sure nothing has been changed or added, for your saftey.

Posting on this site means that you agree with these rules and will here in abide by them.

Good luck and happy posting!!
