Timer for items

Post by Gangrenous » Sat Aug 13, 2016 2:44 pm

Do we have a timer for items? Want to bounce this off of you Jabantiz. Lets say I want an item to cast a heal, that is pretty easy. What about if i only want them to be able to use it every so often? I see Spell Timers and Spawn timers but not really anything for items.

For a bauble I believe we do, everything else it doesn't though, at least not that I am aware of. I am not 100% sure but I believe the only items that can be used to cast a spell in EQ2 are babules but for customization purposes we should probably have a way to set the timers in lua no matter what type of item it is.

So you use the spell timer for a bauble? This item is indeed a bauble

Yes it should use the spell timer on the bauble.

I definitely cannot get it to work, I set a timer and the callback function never gets implemented. Just in case it is not reporting back properly I tried throwing a simple boolean in there and the value never changed, I am positive the function never gets passed through. Maybe an alternative?

A bauble should cast the spell that is linked to it so that spell would need to be set up with a spell script and everything. Are you setting up a call back in the item script? I am not sure a bauble will even trigger the use function.

Actually it will :)

I was trying to do all of this using the "use" function.
