Census - Loot

Post by Gangrenous » Sun Dec 11, 2016 4:24 pm

If this needs to be hidden from official eyes, please move or delete this topic. Question is, do we have a parser for Census data yet? If not I need to write one. While digging around I found the loot in percentages are already in there. IMHO this is huge, I thought I was going to have to dig it all up. This is for a Darkpaw Pup

I see that the items would be super easy to link to ours as the SOE item id is beautifully recorded in the database. I am not seeing where the spawn has any linking to the census data other than the name, I could see where this could be error prone. Better than nothing though, we could correct inaccurate data later.

We do not have a parser to parse every thing they expose, and in the case of the treasure class it just wasn't worth it because the exported data is not complete and they don't seem to want to complete it looking at http://census.daybreakgames.com/xml/get/eq2/ shows it is not a complete export
<datatype name="treasureclass" count="699" hidden="false">
<resolve_list>
</resolve_list>
</datatype>
699 is far to small for the entire world, and honestly I think it might be to small for a single larger zone, while those 699 should be useful if even partial it is just a small fraction of the world.

I am seeing a few NPC's missing also. There just has to be some way of getting that data. That is too much for a small team to gather.

Well reading past forum topics at DBG, it appears they were supposed to provide more data via the API and it never happened. Indeed it would be a small sampling of data going the route of the current treasureloot table. Even if some of these websites that have a log parser started getting data now, it would probably be sparse and not in a time frame I would want it. I may just start structuring my loot now, how I like it. Waiting on something from them, it may never happen. I have also been baffled why the Alla for eq2 has such little data as the EQ1 one. At least EQ1 has some loot percentages via Magelo API.

Should ask Feldon. He's the Census guru.

I think there being that many loottables is probably a misconception. At least it does not have to be as complex as we are making it. I remember EqEmu had thousands upon thousands of loot tables, because they parsed them from Magelo. Even before that, they probably parsed alla. What ended up happening during this process was that you ended up with mobs not sharing loot tables and they should. Most every gnoll in Blackburrow probably shared the same general loottable and had others more specific to them. The entrance gnolls probably only had one for the garbage weapons, another for common drops like rations. If you look at the loot that shows in Alla, if that even resembles something close to the current game, the rates are pretty consistent between like mobs.

There should probably be a loottable for Antonica vipers, one for Antonica gnolls, etc. There one loottable shared between all normal mobs to drop the far Far Seas Trading Requisitions. I know it is not super easy, and there will have to be mobs that have specific loottables but the vast majority can be done.
