Couple of Updates

Post by John Adams » Sat Jan 28, 2017 7:33 pm

First, sorry the forum was unresponsive the last few days. I have been out of town and just got back. Things should be working, and I really do hope to find time to switch EQ2Emu to the newer forum software so it'll stop breaking Apache.

Secondly, I am letting my MMOEmulators.com domain go (after 10 years) since I am the only visitor. Those who use my IRC will likely have to point to irc.eq2emulator.net or irc.evemulator.com, since those domains will be around for a while longer.

Most importantly, my Subversion (SVN) has been reconfigured (since mmoe is going away) so if you have trouble connecting to it, try svn.eq2emulator.net or svn.evemulator.com, for the same reasons.

I'm trying like hell to keep all these services running, but with my Sonicwall finally dying, and this weekend replacing it with something newer - I am finding "consumer" firewalls are absolute garbage unless all you want to do is surf facebook or youporn. It's really fucking up my beautifully configured NOC :)

Oh well, it truly is past time for me to get out of this business entirely. 2017 is starting off ridiculously busy, which I can't complain about, but the MMOs are going to suffer. Hopefully you all can keep it together without me kicking the tires too often.

I'll let you know if I broke anything else. Someone should try the Dev server asap too, and let me know if the new NAT tables are working.

It was only down past maybe 6pm today, that is when the server and website shutdown. Trust me, I was making changes all day.

And if you ever get tired of hosting it, one of us can do it. I already have 4 domains I host here.

I just tested it and I got on with no problems. Also tested svn's and irc and they all seem to work for me.

Cool Jab, svn gave me problems because like a dummy, I had them all set to svn.mmoemulators.com, which I have removed :D Oops.

Looks like there is still an issue, only server showing online is the official. Mine is looping through auto connect to no avail.

I rebooted and strangely it did connect this time. Maybe a DNS change?

My services were on and off all day last Sat/Sun, because I am configuring new hardware.

The only DNS that changed was for irc and svn, and as of today I am probably changing those back to the way they were (though no one will notice but my 1.5 devs).

If time permits, I will likely be cutting these forums over to the new(er) phpBB3.1 version this weekend. I will take the forums offline (for hours, possibly) to do this. It should be a clean cut over, but you never know. If you see this forum still on Monday, you know I a) failed, or b) ran out of time and didn't get to it.

Since I never fail, it'll likely be a timing issue. :)

Some, but the hard work is rewriting all the custom modules to support the project because phpBB3.1 changed a ton of auth stuff.

Isn't funny how you know it's coming. You don't know what is going to demand you attention until it happens, but you can almost predict it down to the day.

Wait! That is every day when I get out of bed.

The new forums will be nice, but the world will not stop turning if we are not switched over by tomorrow. :)
