how close are we to an emulator server to go live?
I can answer this.... Since I don't think anyone really has. The servers are live right now. HOWEVER I am not sure how many people would want to play them in the current state. You are free to come on in and pound away any of the online servers as they are open to the public. I would say they are in Open Alpha state. On "Norrath Reborn" you can go and pound on many of the mobs and melee is very stable. The quests are very scare to come by and the only fun that will be had will be watching your foe at your toes; twitching as its soul leaves the body. On Eq2emulator they have some quest going in the starting zone but after that they will be few and far between.
