Did you get the content from the content svn?

The fact you get an error on the zone script seems to suggest you didn't get it or didn't move it over to the server folder.

Uh nope I didn't, wiki never said anything about it lol. what am I supposed to grab from that folder?

That is probably going to be the case. The guide stops just short of sourcing in the content to the database. I was planning on moving that section to it's own pat so the compile windows server guide would let new devs choose using our content or creating their own from scratch.

Well I definitely don't want to keep bugging you guys with quesitons. If you could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

In the "eq2content / trunk / scripts" folder you want to grab all of those folders and drop them in the same folder the server is in

You then want to grab the db dump in "eq2content / trunk / database / dumps / dev_db ", unzip it and source that into your db. (you will need to bump your db's max_allowed_packet size for this to execute correctly, not sure if that is listed in the wiki)

After that you should have all the same content as the eq2emulator server minus the player characters.


As for the password, I see nothing in the code restricting it other then case sensitive like Cynnar said.

And the story goes on lol. So I got the folders moved over and the DB was sourced in. But I still crash when trying to enter the game. Im going to try deleting the database and starting fresh and see what happens

Most recent one im assuming. did like the guide said(or thought it said) just downloaded eq2 from there website... im going to assume by asking me that it was the wrong thing to do =P

Live client should work but I don't use it. [mention]tyrbo[/mention] works on it the most so maybe he can chime in about what is going on.

And I asked because that can help narrow down crashes.

Yeah I was looking and according to the wiki destiny of velious seems to be the best choice, its just a matter of finding the game now. I actually have rise of kunark box set here so I might try that client aswell.

That use to work but I don't think it has been tested in a long time so it may not anymore. DoV is a client we will always maintain support with as it was the last box they released.

I personally use a patched CoE client as we have the most packet logs so it is easier to develop with that client.

I was told live works with the opcodes but I haven't tried taking a live client all the way into the world recently. Not sure if there are structs or something else missing to make it work properly.

So the server seems to load fine althow I get 2 errors from an invalid Lua entry and 1 for unable to load a zone. soon as I hit play I get an error from the client and it kicks me to desktop

Also my server is up now so if you could try and login with CoV I would appreciate it. just to see if its my client Servername is Lightmare.
I did notice no matter what starting city I selected it tries to send me to frostfangsea. When I look in starting_zone it literally only lists frostfangsea..so is this something that got messed up when I sourced in the db?
