Maintenance Weekend (7/6 - 7/8)

Post by John Adams » Sat Jul 07, 2018 12:01 am

All,
Services will be up and down (mostly, up) through this weekend as I knock the cobwebs out of the cluster servers. Between AZ filth and home renovations, they look like cat boxes :D

I should be able to migrate web servers live, but the game server(s) will come down for migration and patch updates.

Hopefully you won't even notice :)

Your friendly IT guy,
JA

fwiw, Maintenance went okay, with the exception of learning what the "reset to defaults" means on my extensive firewall Rules page

Having rebuilt dozens of rules, I think everything is still working. I also found in my pile of VMs a shiny new EQ2Emulator server I was working on 2 years ago  that maybe I'll finish now so I can get rid of the rickety old Ubuntu 14.04 VM I've been holding together with spit and twine.

Thanks for removing the cat feces out of the litter box. It's a crappy job, but someone has to do it. :D

It's not your friend. No matter what Jabantiz says. It does remind me of the Windows 95 days when format seemed to be a weekly occurrence.. It made me a data horded. Keeping all those programs for reinstall.

Clearly, you need an SMS instance running in your datacenter.

Oh I guess they stopped calling it SMS 20 years ago. SCOM, then. Oh wait, it's not that name anymore either.
