Are Solids really solid?

Post by John Adams » Wed Jul 25, 2018 3:58 pm

Remind me, if I place a rock in a players path, will they stroll straight through it? Or will they bump into it properly and be unable to pass?

I remember EQ2 has "invisible_wall_02" kinda things, to prevent players from going into areas not yet accessible. I'm wondering if immovable objects could serve the same function (example, rock slide cutting off access to a ravine.)

I believe there is a special visual_state (or maybe it was initial_state in this case) the will make the object solid and the player can't walk through it. That said depending on the size of the model it may be possible for the player to jump on it.

There's a `SOLID` ACTIVITY_STATUS (64).
I think that's the one you're looking for.

Object, Widget, and Sign all set it by default.
NPCs pull it from the database.

As a side note, plenty of the invisible walls are in the database already, so those can be used as reference.

Perfect, I think that's what I was looking for, and Activity State. (it's been a while...)

Thanks!
