Connecting error

Post by rayman121985 » Sat Jul 05, 2008 8:14 pm

Hey all,
I just got done installing the EQ2 ROK pack ( Build 4412)...I followed the players guide to starting the emu...I enter my information into the login...and it says its logging into server #1...then the game crashes and I get an error report thing. Anyone know whats causing this? I just want to connect to the test server and play around =).
Thanks!

No that looks correct. What is the username that you are using to connect?

I am using rayman121985 and I just made another to make sure it wasnt that...I made rayman2600 as well and got same error. I even did a fresh reinstall of eq2. Maybe I just need a whole system wipe.
This is what I get after I enter my info.

Is it because I am using direcway sat internat and it freaks out because it needs a fast ping?
thanks!

Can you connect to another server besides your own?
If you can There is a problem with your server setup.
Most likely it is a port forwarding issue.
Also when posting images on forms it is customary to reduce the size of the image so its not taking up the whole page.
XS.to and imageshack are 2 free image hosting services that do this for you. it will say forum link with thumbnail link and you just past that in your post.

Hmm, I'm not sure. Check to see if any .txt files are being created in your EQ2 directory. Specifically alertlog.txt and verifylog.txt. Someone else was having a crash problem related to their graphics card. Also try to run the program in XP compatibility mode (if vista has something like that).

I am using windows xp. Just did a fresh wipe and its still doing this. I even used different Nvidia drivers. I have a 8800 320MB card with 4gb of ram and a core duo 2...I used to play retail just fine. I am not trying my own server...I followed the players guide so I could connect to yalls server. I followed it step by step but maybe I am missing something.I am still running the patch version after you install the ROK.
Heres another screenshot of how I have the eq2 default.
Also the 2 x's are the crash logs. Would you like me to pm them to you or copy and paste them here lethal?
Thanks so much...don't understand why its acting up like this! I was so excited!

Oh one thing that I havent thought about yet - Try deleting both crash files and then retry. Sometimes the crash files themselves cause the client to crash when the client tries to upload them. If it still crashes go ahead and PM me the crash logs. They usually dont contain anything useful, but I dont see anything that would cause you a problem. If you put a invalid username/password in does it still crash? What about if you change the login server to 199.108.12.33?

No luck again =(...tried the login ip you gave but it said my patch number wasn't the same so it wouldn't let me in. I even deleted the crash logs but it crashed me yet again...I just don't understand my luck! Maybe this computer is not going to be playing eq2 emu! I will be pming you lethal the crash logs...

Hey Ray old buddy :)
Have you tried connecting with clean ROK installed, and not patching? And you are running Everquest2.exe, not that other exe? I am currently at 4812L and everything seems ok connecting to my own server.
Once upon a time, I recall there being a problem with logins (I think it even happened to me, remember LE?) Not sure if that's your problem... I fixed nothing, I think LE had to clean up my account or something. It's been a while though.
Good luck, and don't give up!
