Patched Files

Post by rainwalker » Thu Jul 17, 2008 9:52 pm

Can someone tell me which files usually get patched when the game is updated? I'm guessing the game client (everquest2.exe) is one. What are the others?
Thanks!

The main files that would be changed are the .vpk files followed by the user interface .xml files.

There are files in your EQ2 directory that give hints to what is being patched. "EverQuest2Patch.log" or similar, plus some xml files. If you are considering backing up only changed files, it might be a useful tool to download "SynchronizeIT!", which is what I use when patching one machine, then locally patching all my others to save time.
Word of warning: Do not let this thread devolve into a "back-patching" discussion or it will be locked and moved.
